I am planning a trip to Deer Valley next winter. I am looking for a "normal" ex, Hilton, Embassy Suits, ect, hotel to stay at within about 10 miles or less. I would like a shuttle service if possible. If no shuttle, I guess I just Uber to mountain? I have no interest in fancy 1,000 per night stuff. I am going to ski all day, eat and sleep. This summer we're hitting the road to Chicago. It's always been a dream of mine to eat my way through the windy city, hit the field museum, etc. Neither of us have ever been. It's around a 12 hour drive from NWCT. Seems farther but waze ya now. I'd like to stop somewhere along the way to break the trip up plus maybe sight see here and there. As the title says - going to CO for a week with the family starting Jan 2nd (flying from Maine). Mostly I'm looking for tips on which back bowls to hit at Vail, or where to avoid (looking for powder and to avoid standing in lift lines as much as possible - but that goes without saying). I thought I'd start a thread about favorite trails and areas, in hopes of sharing, and giving each other ideas for future rides/vacations/whatever. Hood River, Oregon: Home base for me. Post Canyon is a bit over-used, but it is astounding to have such a huge network of trails located a 6 minute ride from my house. Most summers I head back to New England to visit family and spend a few weeks sailing the coast of Maine. This year was different. The Summer Fun Nationals were held at Mt Hood for the 35th time this summer and marked the end of an era as this year's was the last.
