Another year gone in a flash, and that marks my fourth completed season as a wedding photographer. Last year my work took me all over the country. This year, it took me all over the world. Becoming a destination wedding photographer was one of my long term goals when I started my business four years ago, but I didn't expect to achieve it so quickly. I've been fortunate enough to photograph weddings in Los Angeles and Barcelona, with some more spectacular locations to come in 2024. I'm so grateful to the couples who have put their trust in me to capture their weddings abroad, and I look forw ..read more

Hannah and Jay's Derbyshire Wedding at Grangefields Wedding Venue Hannah and I met at the Grangefields Wedding Fair by Belle Bridal, and I'm so glad we made an instant connection. These guys are genuinely one of the nicest couples I've had the pleasure of working with. So nice in fact, I had to return to the venue with them a few weeks after the wedding to capture the couple shoot part two, where we had some less British weather to work with! And of course, being the legends that they are, Hannah and Jay gifted me the loveliest little succulent, recently named Real Neil by means of Instagra ..read more

When Should You Book Your Wedding Photographer?

Start Shopping Early! When booking a wedding photographer it's best to start the shopping process as soon as you set your wedding date. Depending on the level of demand for certain photographers in your area, you may need to book up to 6-12 months before your wedding to secure the perfect photographer for you. I've taken bookings as far as 3 years in advance. Starting early gives you time to compare different rates and packages, ask questions, and decide what kind of photos are important to you. If you're not a photographer, you probably don't even know what style you like yet, and there's ..read more

Lake Vrynwy Engagement Shoot, Wales – Carly and Gareth

I was coming to the end of my drive from Nottingham to Lake Vrynwy in Wales, and to say my draw dropped as I approached the lake would be an understatement. The dam built over the lake began slowly creeping into sight, and since I was early for the shoot I knew I had to pull over to get a better view. Before me were rolling hills enveloped in pine trees, a tower befitting of a fairytale, and of course the lake stretching just over 3 miles long. We had planned to take photos at Rhiwagor Waterfall that's connected to the North side of the lake, but driving around the edge I knew there were go ..read more

Anna and Colin's Classic Scottish Wedding No matter how long I shoot weddings for, in locations all over the world with people from all walks of life, this one will go down as one of my all time favourites. I've never known anyone to plan such an incredible wedding in the space of a few months, but if anyone deserved a day of their dreams to celebrate with their closest friends and family then it would be these two. From the moment they contacted me and after our first Zoom meeting I knew the day was going to be special and that I'd be working with the loveliest pair imaginable. "My fianc ..read more

Another year gone in a flash, and that marks my third completed season as a wedding photographer. 2022 has taken me all over the country, from a south coast wedding in Dorset to a Northumberland wedding at Shortflatt Tower. I started the year with many goals, but one in particular springs to mind - to come closer to a style of photography that I can call my own. While there's still progress to be made I can certainly say I'm closing to settling on a look that consistently represents my work which will continue to develop going into 2023, along with a constantly improving client journey. Is 4 Hours Enough For Wedding Photography?

You might be on a budget, having an elopement, or you simply don't want a photographer hanging out with you for the entirety of your wedding day... So what do you do? You start looking at photographers who offer a short day package, and when you see that I offer a 4-hour coverage package you ask yourself; is 4 hours enough for wedding photography? The short answer is yes. There have been occasions where my couples have been so limited on resources and time that they only wanted me to shoot with them for 2 hours. As I do with every single couple that I work with, I had a few Zoom calls and c ..read more

Smedmore House Coastal Wedding, Dorset – Alice and Scott

A classy seaside wedding I just had to blog Alice and Scott's wedding day took me to the town of Kimmeridge, 7 miles along the coast from the famous Durdle Door. Whilst approaching the venue along its driveway I wasn't sure what to expect, but it certainly wasn't what I was met with. Smedmore House, to say you made my jaw drop would be an understatement! Whilst I tried to concentrate on the drive, my second photographer (shoutout to Laura for the great work and equally great company), said something along the lines of "oh my god". The windows of the house cast a soft morning light which was ..read more

Why You Should Invest In Your Wedding Photographer

"Isn't my phone just as good as your camera nowadays?", asked a guest at the Swinfen Hall wedding last Thursday. This got me thinking. "No", was my simple answer. I went on to explain how different the two are, as this guest seemed particularly interested (bare with me, my point is coming). There's a load of technical jargon I could pelt you with to list the reasons why professional cameras trump the smartphone camera, in fact my University dissertation was titled 'How Mobile Filmmaking Technology Is Affecting Professional Videography'. Okay, it's not quite photography related, but the conc ..read more
