I was wondering how much of the Xbox Series Tech developers have actually utilised until now.
I am referring to Mesh Shaders, VRS, SFS, RT, ML, Velocity Architecture and raw SSD speed.
We have a number of games that are using Variable Rate Shading, so that's a tick. Obviously the SSD speed is being used for improved game loading speeds, but I don't think much has been used with regards to in game performance gains.
We have Ray Tracing being used on a number of games as well.
Outside of that...

I've always found the cooling aspects of consoles very interesting in terms of how they are engineered. As the specs have gotten more powerful, and the designs of consoles have become more like highly specialized gaming PCs in some sense, it's been a lot of fun seeing how methods of cooling have evolved with the consoles as well. Thanks to YouTube, it's now possible to watch tear-downs of the consoles delve even deeper into how these systems work. Gamer Nexus has some really well done...

OK, I want to first establish what this is and is not. Also, this may or may not be the correct sub-forum for this, but if it can be kept on topic, I believe it can be a good technical discussion about "how lighting is used in games" regardless of the technology behind the lighting used in any specific game.
This should be a discussion about how lighting techniques are used in games. This isn't about RT good or RT bad. This isn't necessarily about the technology behind the lighting...

I don’t know why people are getting their panties in a bunch debating the spec differences between the Ps5 and xsx. As far as I’m concerned, it’s irrelevant and they might as well be the same. We don’t see people argue the differences between 3060 vs 3060ti or a 6600xt vs 6700xt and those differences are more significant than this barely perceptible difference.
I miss the days when both companies used different GPU vendors. At least the debates had merit. The surplus of the XSX GPU is often...

Since, PS5 Pro is pretty much confirmed and coming this Fall/Winter, can Microsoft's Series X refresh (aka Brooklin) really compete against the Pro in a meaningful way (spec wise) if it is released this year? Or, does Microsoft drop the SX refresh and concentrate more on a potential Series successor (aka the cohesive hybrid design) for late 2025?
What we know from the FTC documents so far...

As a layman, I naively buy into the promise of virtual textures whole heartedly. No limits to texture size beyond storage. VRAM use is always a smallish, consistent page size based on screen resolution etc.
Is it that straightforward? We still see PC titles, particularly console ports running into VRAM issues with textures.
These days, should there only be one texture setting, 'ultra awesome'?
Is it just that we're still coming out of crossgen, where spinning discs were an issue for...

It seems to me that Forza has more track detail, more vegetation etc. I do think that GT7 almost always look better though.
I think some reasons for this is:
*Colors look better and more livlier in GT7. Colors in Forza are quite desaturated.
*Skies look way better in GT7. Are GT7 using catpured HDRI´s while Forzas is procedural?
*Does Forza do something different when it comes to color mapping?
*Car shaders looking very flat in Forza.
*Better, more realistic, lighting and lighting balance...
