Has anyone used this PRC (Pre-Release Capture) function (Z cameras) in the field (e.g., wildlife)? What are your settings and how do you implement the function? How do you go back to your original (default) non-PRC shooting mode when you need to? If you use BBAF only, how do you get "PRC"? Hope to get some answers here for my intention of using PRC. Thanks ..read more

So... Was out today and decided to try some bracketing. I have a D7200, Think I set it up right on the camera. According to the top screen it was setup to take 5 photos at 2 exposure stops difference. But the camera only took one photo. Does it not work with Raw files? Or is it useless with raw files?

Hello,
I'm reaching out for some guidance on capturing captivating night sky photography.
I've recently become fascinated with astrophotography and I'm eager to learn more about capturing the beauty of the night sky. Specifically, I'm interested in tips and techniques for photographing stars, the Milky Way, and celestial events such as meteor showers.
I currently shoot with a Nikon Z6 II and have a few lenses in my kit, including a 24-70mm f/2.8 and a 14-24mm f/2.8. While I've...

I combine two hobbies. Wildlife photography and hiking. To my own detriment, I don't have any prime lenses. I do like getting the best quality images I can from my AF Zooms, however. I've read, and agree, that with most 'all in one' zooms, quality will drop off at max telephoto settings. Do any of you search for a sweet spot? Example: 18 to 300mm telephoto maybe backed off to 250mm or so ..read more

I just got my new Z8 yesterday. After checking all (or most) body parts, I found the eyecup of the EVF seems to block my view a little and cause discomfort. I wear glasses when shooting and did not experience this issue with my other cameras (D3500 and Z6ii). Now I just removed the eyecup from my Z8 and felt better. Wonder if anyone had the same experience with eyecups of their cameras? Can removing eyecup from EVF cause any adverse effects? Love to hear your opinion ..read more

I have set up back button focusing on my D7500 and it works OK. But the camera still takes pictures when not in focus. My AF-S and AF-C priority selections are both "focus." AF Activation is set to AF-ON only. My C1 Shutter-release button AE-L is set to OFF. I have the exact same settings on my D7000 and it works just fine. I must be missing something. Thank you ..read more

Newbie here.... I can use the Speedlight with the Z5 via the hot-shoe. However, I wish to use it remotely. I can't see how I can do this (looking at the Z5 manual and Z5 menu). From what I've read I need a 'trigger' mounted on the hot-shoe. Is this correct? If so, what are your recommendations (I'd imagine the Nikon one is expensive!). Godox seems a good make - but which version?
Many thanks,
Richard

I have a D3200 mated to my 8" Celestron telescope. Solar filter for the scope is inbound. I'm wondering what might be the ballpark settings to capture the April 8th total solar eclipse. Thanks in advance ..read more
