I have a Nikkor 80-200/2.8 AF (original) push-pull. Vertical shots are problematic because it does not have a tripod collar and all that weight cantilevered out in front of the camera mount causes the apparatus to twist downward. Enter the solution: an 82mm collar clamp. Now I can rotate the lens and have everything remain on top of the tripod head rather than having it all cantivelered out when shooting verticals. Been into astronomy for at around 40 years. It's never been an all encompassing hobby but it's nice to have a scope you can grab and have it up and running in 15-20 minutes. My Celestron 6SE is that kind of scope and is a good scope. Where this is leading to is Astrophotography. I danced around with the possibility but to get to the point for just a decent setup I couldn't justify the expense for how much it would used it.
