It has been a very contentious topic on message boards in the past. Watching Kirsty and Phil and an awful separate toilet just made me think, surely, we are all finally in agreement separate toilet tiny rooms are never included in modern house design any longer. along with the colour pink in decor ..read more

I'm tidying up an ex-rental that was a little neglected. Some of the ceiling lights weren't working - all circular fluorescents, and as they were all a few years old, I've replaced all the tubes. The hall has two lights. Despite the new tubes, one light works and the other doesn't. The one that does work, doesn't seem to have a starter fitted (pic 1) and the one that doesn't work there seems to be the locating socket for a starter but there isn't one! Quite the opposite of what I'd... Read more ..read more

I am planning a new kitchen in a large lounge. Due to the shape and size of the space, it will work with an island that will have to have either the cooktop or the sink in it. I would be very interested in knowing how happy people are with either option. And recommendations for a silent or near silent range hood or down-draft ..read more

Ancient plastic things supporting the ancient towel rail finally snapped when I hung the fresh towels up this morning. Cat's thrilled to have a fresh nest of clean towels to sit on but I'm not excited about having to find some kind of support that will screw into existing screw holes to re-hang it. Can it be done ..read more

including his washing machine (I wanna marry him!). I do empty the small tray outlet thing at bottom of machine and wipe around all rubber sealing regularly, but this guy took out the soap/bleach/fabric softener basket to get at the back of it (I never knew it came completely out - he had same machine as mine). OMG! what was there was disgusting! So now I have a sparkling clean front loader and currently I have a WM cleaner going through it to clean what I can't get at. I know, I need a... Ok Here's the to do. The oldies are looking at installing an instant hot water unit in a new bathroom. Does anyone use one of these. What did it cost. How did it affect the power bill. And any other info/ advise would be appreciated. We have used a gas system with no problems. But the oldies aren't keen on that ..read more
