A Trump ally’s attempt to pass off a Rod Stewart concert as a MAGA rally wasn’t exactly plain sailing

Despite being a natural lookalike for Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Roger stone is no fictional villain – toon or otherwise. The former Donald Trump campaign strategist was convicted of witness tampering, obstruction, and making false statements – so, despite a subsequent pardon courtesy of his buddy in the White House, he remains a real-life villain. As the internet argued over whether the former President had pulled in a crowd of 80,000 for his Wildwood, New Jersey rally (Spoiler alert – he hadn’t), Stone shared an image to back up Trump’s claims. Despite the pandemic apparently bringing communities together in a way rarely seen before, chances are you don’t know many of your neighbours well enough to actually know their name. Which is why so many of us only know them by their nicknames, and boy do we have some inventive nicknames! We say this after @_Enanem_ had a question over on Twitter. Do you have nicknames for your neighbours? I call mine Poldark because he once cut his grass with no shirt on. — Neil (@_Enanem_) May 12, 2024 And the nicknames came flooding in! Jay Rayner gave Johann Hari both barrels about his new book and his correction took it to a whole new level

Johann Hari’s got a new book out about anti-obesity drugs such as Ozempic called Magic Pill and the Guardian’s review is well worth a read. Hari, you might already know, left his Independent columnist job after it was revealed he had stolen quotes and libelled rivals via online sockpuppet accounts, as the Guardian’s review recalls here (Hari later admitted he had ‘failed badly’ – read all about that here). And we mention it because Observer restaurant critic, TV presenter and much else besides Jay Rayner is mentioned in the new book. Just not entirely accurately, it turns out. And it’s fair to ..read more

This whole new angle on Munch’s The Scream went wildly viral but it’s not all it seems, doggone it!

In the list of paintings familiar to pretty much everyone, The Scream is right up there with the Mona Lisa and Sunflowers. Except, no matter how many times you’ve seen Edvard Munch’s The Scream, you haven’t looked at it quite like this. And – be warned – once seen it really is never unseen. pic.twitter.com/BifpGxlA4l — Rothmus (@Rothmus) May 12, 2024 And here it is again, just in case it’s tricky to see in full. And it went viral, widely viral. Except it’s not in fact the actual painting. The actual painting: pic.twitter.com/ahLQVSvHzj — Ambrosia Quill (@AmbrosiaQuill) May 12, 2024 Still ..read more

This episode of C5’s The Hotel Inspector featuring an owner called Muff is today’s funniest two minutes

You don’t have to be a fan of Channel 5’s The Hotel Inspector to enjoy this fabulous clip which has just gone viral on Twitter. It’s a minute or two from an episode of Alex Polizzi’s observational documentary series featuring a hotel owned by someone called Muff. And it’s every bit as enjoyable – and downright childish – as you imagined that it’s going to be. Sure, it’s a supercut of clips put together, but were Channel 5 going to let this opportunity pass them by? Were they heck. Obsessed with this episode of hotel Inspector where the owner is called Muff… incredible scenes. pic.twitter.com ..read more

If there are two things that can be guaranteed to get people’s goat on neighbourhood Facebook and WhatsApp groups, it’s dog poop and parking. And it’s the first of those that went wildly viral today after this person took epic revenge on an inconsiderate dog walker and it’s simply magnificent. Australian rules football player Darcy Moore is the captain of the Collingwood Magpies. That’s an important point to remember. He was demonstrating his kicking technique for Channel 7, when what has to be a million-to-one shot ended up with what’s going to be an interesting insurance claim. The channel posted the clip, saying – “So Darcy Moore’s attempt to show us his goal kicking didn’t go too well …” @7sportau So Darcy Moore's attempt to show us his goal kicking didn't go too well… ♬ original sound – 7Sport What’s that they say about magpies? You may remember British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter Clare Edwards – Purple_Terp – from the King‘s Coronation Concert, when she upstaged Lionel Richie with her very expressive signing.
