The light at this time of year is beautiful. The colours are subtle and pastel like. Here are a few shots I took of some great surfers as the light was fading and the surf was pumping. In September I went to the Gliding Barnacles surf festival in Figueira Da Foz, Portugal with my buddies from Echo surf supplies. Music till 3am, sun, surfing, drinking, shooting, repeat! Was a lot of fun but very exhausting! Here are some shots I grabbed of the event. I photographed 6 members of the RNLI Ilfracombe crew for my latest project. Heroes & Trauma. I wanted to showcase these men and women as the heroes they are, but also highlight the mental stress that they often have to deal with in such high risk situations. I recently shot some stills for a new family card game. I had to fit in my shots alongside the video crew whilst they were filming some promo footage. I also grabbed some BTS for the video crew. The guys at Humanoid were great and made for a very enjoyable shoot. Fantastic Fungi

I recently went on the search to photograph the beautiful red and white Fly Agaric fungi. I walked over ten miles and didn’t see a single one! I did, however see lots of other beautiful species of fungus, some no bigger than my little finger. This miniature world is a fascinating place to behold. I will hopefully capture some more before the winter arrives and they all disappear. I recently started a project with the amazing folk down at Ilfracombe RNLI. I photographed one of their training sessions showcasing the ILB (Inshore Lifeboat) and ALB (All-weather Lifeboat) crews, with the idea of building a library of images for them to use for PR purposes. I hope to do several more sessions with them over the coming months. Here are a few shots from the first session… View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize ..read more

RNLI Lifeguards at Croyde Bay

I shot these a few weeks ago down at Croyde. It was a particularly moody day with heavy winds and torrential rain. At one point the parasol flew off the RNLI crew cab and tumbled down the beach! It was comical watching one of the Lifeguards struggle to get it back. These heroes do an amazing job in keeping folk safe, especially in Croyde because the rip there is very dangerous. I was surfing there last week and they made many rescues in a short space of time. I photographed several surfers from the road above Saunton Sands. It's quite a long way from the beach, but at low tide and with a nice reflective film of water on the sand, I captured these interesting ‘small world’ images… View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize ..read more

Abstract sunset over Croyde Bay.

Thought I would try something a little different last night as the sun set over Croyde bay. I wanted to try some long exposure, pan shots which have a ‘Rothco’-ish feel to them. I have recently added to this collection a shot I took at Brighton beach. I will be adding more images from other beaches to build up a collection. Since I spend a lot of time in Devon (I have bases in Ilfracombe and Birmingham) I have been shooting a lot of beach oriented subject matter, especially surfers! I started my surfing journey in 2020 on an 8’ foamy but now have progressed to a Cortez Sequoia Woodcraft, 9’1” longboard. Its such a fantastic sport but it’s certainly the hardest thing I have ever learned to do! Frustrating at times but the pay off’s are really worth it. Anyway, I thought I would share some of my shots from the local beaches and surrounding areas… View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View full ..read more
