The Los Angeles Auto Show kicked off on Thursday, but something was a bit different this year. Instead of a bevy of new all-electric automobiles, the spotlight was predominantly on internal combustion cars, with or without hybrid assistance. Around two months after Lucid unveiled its first vehicle, the Air sedan, it revealed a longer-range version called the Air Dream Edition. Now that it has finally shown off its second vehicle, an SUV called the Gravity, the clock is counting down to an equivalent, limited edition model that can drive farther, the company’s CEO hinted. Following its debut at the Japan Mobility Show, Honda has introduced the Prelude concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The surprise move comes 45 years after the first-generation Prelude entered production in November 1978 and roughly 22 years after production came to an end in 2001. The nine finalists for the North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards have been announced, and five of them are all electric. In addition, two more are offered with a hybrid powertrain, and only two exclusively feature an internal combustion engine. The Los Angeles Auto Show continues as Kia has taken the wraps off the 2024 Sorento. Set to go on sale early next year, the facelifted crossover adopts a more adventurous Opposites United design that closely echoes the Korean variant. The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe has arrived at the Los Angeles Auto Show and it’s a radical departure as designers embraced the idea that ‘boxy is beautiful.’ Set to hit dealers in March, the crossover was seemingly designed exclusively with a ruler as soft curves and flowing surfaces have given way to straight lines and angular accents.
