Leading from last week’s sampler which seemed to generate some interest here is another mix containing 22 tracks from the last few months. Glasgow’s Memorabilia follow up last year’s S/T release with a new single in the shape of Gargoyle. The coldwave inspired synths lead the way, whilst the vocals sounds like they were plucked from an early 1980s goth track. It’s rousing stuff to be sure, and most catchy with it as well. Gargoyle, which is backed by Contours, is out now in cassette and digital formats from Sentinel. The new single from the Paris based Echoberyl takes its inspiration from cult Sci-Fi series The Twilight Zone. The band write that Fading Away is “about meeting someone you lost a long time ago. A song about dealing with absence and death.” No surprise then that it’s an atmospheric track twisting between the dark, moody and melancholic. In between the synths, there is some nice Peter Hook inspired style bass too. It’s backed with a number of mixes.
