So I’ve got a real change of pace for you guys, instead of racing around a paved track, we’re going to be crawling up and over giant boulders.
This is the Great American Crawl, an event organized by Rockstar Energy, where the whole purpose is to travel across the nation and find the trails that offer the best wheeling they can find. This is something that I have been watching on YouTube for the last couple of years. So when I first saw the announcement that they were coming to Montrose as part of this year’s tour, I got excited that I’d get the chance to watch the ..read more

Hot. Noisey. Sunburned. These are certainly some adjectives which that fit the July 31 ColoRETRO show, hosted by Mayhem Racing Charities. The show, held in the parking lot of Douglas County High School in Castle Rock was subject to ambient temperatures of up to 90 degrees at the time of the awards ceremony, exacerbated by the ruthless black tarmac of the parking lot. In spite of the heat however, nearly 100 80’s and 90’s period vehicles, containing participants dressed in similar attire, convened to bring an excellent retro show experience to life in Colorado for the second year running. Pikes Peak International Raceway’s inaugural PPIR Fall Bash exceeded expectations, with motorsports enthusiasts flocking to the tracks and making it a day to remember. Boasting a turnout of well over a thousand tickets sold, the venue buzzed with the energy of a crowd excited to witness and partake in a medley of motorsports events. Reminiscent of similar past events such as Alpine Horizon Festival, but at an even more grassroots scale, PPIR Fall Bash truly embodied the spirit of motorsports celebration. From drift clinics to track sprints and vintage oval racing, the Fall Bash made sure ever ..read more

Story and Photography by Chris Colten
By this point in time, many auto enthusiasts have seen the 2019 Blockbuster, Ford vs. Ferrari. The film depicts the events leading up to Ford Motor Company campaigning unprecedented racecars on the international stage. The movie was highly focused on the development of the legendary GT-40, a mid-engined monster born out of spite and a desire to beat Enzo Ferrari on their home turf.
Numerous variants were produced between 1964 and 1969, with a total production run of 105 cars. Among them was a Mk1 with the designation of P/1015 – built in 1965 with the int ..read more

ACURA INTEGRA TYPE S
Story: Brendan Garst Photography: Chris Colten, Steve Clark
The car trundled to an uneasy stop at the Robber’s Roost turn-off, four-ways lit, and angled back towards Berthoud pass’ ribbon of cratered tarmac. Cyclists from the “Ride the Rockies” cycling tour looked on from across the street as we got out to look at the newly flattened tire on one of the most interesting enthusiast automotive launches of 2024, the Acura Integra Type S. Lets back up things up a bit…
This is another new one for us here at SHIFT Colorado; a car with an embargo. In the mountain town of Win ..read more

I’ve you’ve driven Interstate 70 in the winter in the last decade, there are two notable landmarks about halfway between Denver and the Eisenhower Tunnel. The first is a lifted yellow Pontiac Firebird that resided just north of Georgetown, easily visible from the highway. After years of being parked, it has been conspicuously absent for the last few years, but has been occasionally sighted e ..read more
