My great-grandfather walked here. He came from a family of 15; a couple wars broke out after the Mexican Revolution & he just walked here as a teenager. Even though it was political in nature, I don’t think it was political in his mind. He was just doing what was right for him personally. & by extension, his children. Look at me now, man. None of us come from a place of privilege. It wasn’t an easy thing for our parents, especially when we were teenagers, to just give us money to go do music or support us. They didn’t have money like that either. So even though it’s me on stage, I wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for my mother’s sacrifice & support. The new EP reminds me of a Post-Hardcore Siamese Dream. I like that! I was listening to a lot of Smashing Pumpkins when writing those songs, but I feel like a lot of other bands we listen to started branching from that sound as well.
