The commission approved a resolution for the Drug Education Council. The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles has scheduled 75 parole hearings and 26 hearings on requests for pardons this week, April 30 – May 2, 2024. One Clarke County inmate is up for parole consideration on May 1. Watson Rashaad Jones of Thomasville was sentenced to three years in jail on Dec. 11, 2023, on charges of burglary third degree and possession of a controlled substance. The Allman Brothers Band was immortalized in Jackson this past Sunday. The Clarke County Historical Society recognized the band with a historic marker that was placed outside the Bigbee Coffee Roasters shop. The event commemorating the band was held at the Jackson Fire Station Sunday afternoon. The event was well attended with almost every chair being full for Bob Beatty’s presentation on the band.
