Can I use one of the pre out ports connected to a separate power amp and speakers (full range) to listen to audio if the built in amp is not connected to speakers? I'd like to compare the built in amp section to one of my separate power amps ..read more

This thread is to discuss the new Rowland Capri S2 preamplifier. During CES 2013, Jeff Rowland has announced and released the Capri S2 (Series 2) preamplifier, a replacement of the fabulous original Capri product. Capri S2, as well as its optional DAC card, was developed in an engineering collaboration with Danish company Holm Acoustics. I do not know too much about the new preamplifier, but I have heard that in addition to significantly enhanced internals, it features a new remote control... Read more ..read more

I recently replaced my Parasound A21 with a JR M525. Although it's used, it has less than 100 hours. It has taken my system to new levels: soundstaging, spacing between instruments, tonality, and a natural midrange. The M525 is the first amp I've ever owned that presents a 3 dimensional soundstage. All that being said, now I wonder what improvements going from the M525 to the JR S2 integrated will yield? Is it a night and day difference? My system: Aerial 7Ts, PS Audio DirectStream DAC... During CES 2013, Jeff Rowland Design Group has announced the Model 525 -- a new 250W class D stereo amp, bridgeable to an impressive 1000W in mono operations. The M525 is based on new class D technology from Pascal in Copenhagen, and does not contain any ICEpower modules. I have not seen the amp yet, but I have been told that M525 is housed in a compact chassis derived from the now withdrawn M501, with the addition of a standby button on the front panel. The new amplifier has been released... Read more ..read more

I am the happy owner of a Coherence II preamp. A few qustions: As the cord to connect battery power supply with preamp has deteriorated (outer isolation falling off in pieces), I ought to replace it. Would it be safe to use the old cord with a new outer shrink wrap? I am afraid the cable‘s inside isn‘ t much better. Are there alternative cords, maybe better sounding ones? Battery swapping: any tricks to get old batteries out? One always gets stuck inside and wouldn’t move … Other... Read more ..read more

I just heard from the Rowland factory today: coming Friday, I will receive my pair (or should I call it my quartet?!) of M925 mono amps.... Needless to say, I am excited! At 320 Lbs combined for the 4 creatures wearing their birthday suits (380 Lbs when boxed) my first challange will be to carry them upstairs to my music loft without mangling my back. I will use Nordost Titanium Sort Kones instead of factory-provided footers... Each lower chassis has three divets caarved on its bottom... Read more ..read more

I am think about getting Corus + 625 for my Wilson Sophia 3 speakers, the reason being I have been using Aeries Dac since November 2011, happen to like the sound but not too sure if the pre-amp and power amp will match well with Sophia 3 than the Spectral gear. Does anyone here have any insight on this ..read more

Tube Pre with Rowland Amp

Has anyone tried a tube preamp with their Rowland amp? I recently took delivery of a Continuum S2 and I am so impressed with the sound and build quality that I started wondering if I could use my Emotive Audio Epifania preamp with a 625 S2. I realize that one issue is that I would have to use Cardas RCA to XLR converter because the preamp is only single ended ..read more
