Good Morning!
What’s the first thing I do when I wake up? Check my watch, to see what the temperature outside is. My watch is connected to my phone. My phone is connected to the internet. So yes, I am regularly “searching” the internet to find out todays weather.
When I’m out and about, I overhear conversations about the WNBA, draft picks, and the opening season of baseball. I have limited interest in sports…

Years ago, when I was working as a pharmacist at a home infusion company, my boss didn’t know what Easter was. He asked a question in all sincerity, “what’s this Jesus thing?” and I didn’t respond. Mainly because I was actually in shock. How could anyone NOT know about Easter and who this Jesus person was? In the bubble of my world, everyone knew what Easter was, right? Nope. Not at all.
Share Musings of an Empty Nest Mom
I still hurt over not responding. I had the perfect opening. I feel like I let a God given opportunity go to waste. Thankfully, my God is quite merciful. In His goodness, He ..read more

Welcome to the newly named same blog: Musings Of An Empty Nest Mom.
I’ve been writing for over a year now. It’s really hard to believe, but true. It’s a wonderful platform for me. I love the flexibility of writing about whatever intrigues me.
As I read over all I’ve done, I’ve come to realize that many of the articles aren’t necessarily only for empty nest moms but for many people that may not fit into that specific hat. I am hoping the name change will expand the reach, and also allow you - my readers - more flexibility to share with family and friends that you may not have otherwise due to t ..read more

Woot! Woot! It’s Eclipse Day 2024!
Really? Why is this such an event this year? Yes, it’s cool. Yes, it’s infrequent. But should schools and places of business close? If anything, this event makes me wary. Loosing the sun for even just a minute or two begs the question, how long would the earth survive without the sun?
Photo by Mark Basarab on Unsplash
In all seriousness, the survival of earth without the sun would be extremely limited. The sun is the primary source of energy that sustains life on our planet. If the sun were to suddenly disappear, earth would be devoid of light and heat with ..read more

Why Isaiah? Why now?

(1) As Christians, we are currently participating the the Easter Season. It’s not just a single day! There are 50 days of Easter from the first Sunday of the Resurrection to Pentecost Sunday. It is characterized by the joy of the glorified life of Jesus and victory over death. Alleluia!! Long before Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, Isaiah spoke of this great mystery.
Isaiah 25: 9
It will be said on that day, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad ..read more

Once upon a time, in a quaint little town nestled between the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, there lived a young woman named Emily. Emily was raised in a devout Christian family, surrounded by the warmth of faith and the comfort of beautiful hymns and a vibrant church community.
As Emily grew older, she often felt a hollow ache deep within her chest, a void she couldn't quite explain. Despite her upbringing, she found herself searching for ways to fill that emptiness.

Living in the middle, in the space between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, can indeed be a challenging and ambiguous experience. It's a time when we may feel caught between darkness and light, uncertainty and hope. Even though Easter Sunday has been celebrated, we may still feel abandoned.

If you’re anything like me, I can see the cross, in the distance. I’m not hanging out at Jesus’ feet. I’m too ashamed of my own actions, and inactions. My own words. My own thoughts.

During the last 40 days, I’ve been focusing on surrendering. Giving up self. And I’ve stumbled more times than I care to count.
Jesus surrendered. He surrendered His everything. By surrendering everything, He has set us free.

Finishing a particular health or wellness goal is indeed just the beginning of a lifelong journey towards well-being. I’ll repeat the mantra: “self care is not selfish”. Let me remind you that we are stewards of our own bodies - and they deserve our care. It’s unfortunate that so many people I know, myself included, don’t appreciate this in their younger years. Then, as we age, it comes back to bite us in the a$$. What are some strategies to continue actively participating in your own health and wellne ..read more

The occasional morning walk with the dog can indeed count as exercise, but its effectiveness depends on various factors such as the length, intensity, and frequency of the walk, as well as the overall activity level of both the dog and the person walking them.
If the walk is brisk, lasts for a reasonable duration (e.g., 20-30 minutes or more), and occurs regularly, it can contribute to maintaining physical health and fitness for both the dog and the person. Even occasional walks, if done with purpose and energy, can provide some level of exercise and contribute to overall well-being, albeit to ..read more
