The ending of last week’s half term marks the successful completion of our latest 4-day holiday crash courses. Run throughout our swimming calendar, current and new swimmers alike join a crash course to build skills and practise techniques. As this additional support can be welcome at every level, we cater for three-year-old pre-schoolers and beyond at our holiday lessons. Many find choosing a holiday crash course is an ideal way to trial a sequence of lessons, experiencing our teaching methods for themselves. Smoothing out bad habits That’s what Cameron’s mum, Catherine, found on finishing th ..read more

Angela’s Swim School is very much a family firm and Neil Wilson, Angela’s husband, has been our head of finance and a director of the firm for three years. To help his recovery, Neil’s doctor recommended regular supervised swimming sessions. Neil has always been a regular at the gym and considered himself fit and healthy. So, suffering three strokes after complications with a back procedure two years ago came totally out of the blue. For a year it took away his ability to drive and left him feeling disorientated and down. To help his recovery, Neil’s .doctor recommended regular supervised sw ..read more

So great having my husband Neil by my side and joining me on Made in Kent radio. He took time out of his schedule as swim school Director to talk about a day neither of us will ever forget. On our first holiday together, we were swimming side-by-side in beautiful clear seas. The water was so calm you couldn’t tell that it dropped from shallow to deep water really fast. Realising he was in too deep Neil started to panic. I realised he was getting into difficulty and instinctively put him on his back and swam him into shore. Not a good enough swimmer That was the day Neil realised he wasn’t a st ..read more

Being in water is a fantastic sensory experience most babies take to straight away. However, some need a bit more time to settle in. The answer for that is to keep calm and keep attending lessons. It’s a phase that doesn’t last long and our instructors know exactly how to get the best out of your baby. Here’s how our swimmer Charlotte fell in love with swimming after getting off to a rocky start at the pool. Charlotte’s been swimming at our school since she was a four month old baby. Her mum remembers all too clearly that back then Charlotte didn’t initially enjoy the lessons. In fact, she was ..read more

Gaining confidence and learning skills: adult swimming lessons

Adults join our lessons for so many reasons. Some come to relearn techniques learnt as children in our Improver and Advanced classes. Our Adult Beginner sessions see novice swimmers take their very first lessons or revisit a skill they started as a child. For most of our beginners they’ve come to turn around a fear of water they’ve carried for years. Getting comfortable with water That was very much Michael’s experience before joining us. As a total non-swimmer he was scared to get into a pool and thought he would never learn to swim. He’s amazed that after just two terms he’s now comfortable ..read more
