SEPE Diving are delighted for another season to be co-sponsor for the Ilkley RFC U12’s 2024 tour kit As if the winters scuba diving hasn’t been crazy enough, it’s most certainly been a very busy rugby season. With the recent World Cup, Six Nations, and Army Vs Navy, we’ve also had an unforgettable U12’s junior season down at Stacks Field, Ilkley. Unlike 2023, U12’s head coach Charlie McIntosh and assistant coach Chris Bates already had a few ideas as to the designs for the 2024 tour kit. After more hard work, deliberation and engagement with sponsors, it was only fitting following Ilkley 1st ..read more

Sharing their extensive knowledge and skill with new leaders, PADI IDC Staff Instructors are expert level dive educators. Just as scuba divers look up to divemasters, instructor candidates respect IDC Staff Instructors. As the name implies, the primary role of a Staff Instructor is to support professional diver training and development, bridging the gap between aspiring Open Water Scuba Instructors (OWSI) and Course Directors. Completing the IDC Staff Instructor course not only provides you with in-depth knowledge of the world renowned PADI instructor development process or ‘IDC’ as its better ..read more

JAMES EARNSHAW Anyone in scuba diving who knows me, generally speaking, also knows my son James. Since 2018, James has regularly accompanied me into work in lieu of not being able to source any suitable last minute childcare, with him eagerly trying to get involved with both instructors and divemasters in anyway he could. Naturally, no parent would ever wilfully wish away their sons childhood, but there has unashamedly been an over-enthusiastic part of me, which in recent years simply could not wait for James to reach the age of 10 and FINALLY come diving! For many reasons, the subsequent lock ..read more

SCAPA FLOW 2021 - Stromness, Orkney 23rd to 30th October THE TEAM SCAPA’21 saw the return of most divers from a previously successful trip in 2019, so I was pleased that we had made it back with a wealth of experience and familiarity with the wrecks of the Flow. Scapa is without a doubt a majestic place, teeming with natural beauty that has you wanting to stick your head under the water from the first moment you arrive. HEADING FOR SCOTLAND Following the usual early departure from Yorkshire, the team progressively made its way up through Scotland, stopping several times to admire some of the s ..read more

PRODUCT REVIEW So, laughably this story started out exactly like many other major industry product launches… with a phone call from a local dive shop wetting my appetite with news that they had been one of a privileged few to see prototypes for several new APEKS products, due for release in early 2021. It’s fair to say that this cunning sales manager knew exactly what he was doing when phoning me, with the only requirement for any product finding its way into my ever-expanding tardis of dive kit being shiny and made by APEKS. It also wasn’t often that I saw or heard this guy this excited, so I ..read more

For any readers who may not know, the United Kingdom is an independent country comprised of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is part of Europe and sits to the northwest of the worlds 6th largest continent. You may have heard the United Kingdom referred to as Great Britain, The British Isles or more simply the UK, but each of these terms actually relates to a slightly diff ..read more

Technical diving or ‘tec’ as its often referred to, permits divers to extend their diving beyond recreational limits, allowing them to plan longer dives at shallower depths, or deeper dives to more advanced locations. If your looking to expand both your diving skills and knowledge, tec can most certainly provide you with experiences and exploration opportunities in places very few will ever see. In this blog we are going to explore technical diving in a little more detail, and aid to remove some of the crazy misconceptions that tec is only for those who have a desire to go deeper, darker and m ..read more
