The state medical board will care a lot about what kind of sex you engage in and with whom. Not right off the bat, but if a pissed off lover reports you, especially if you're a man, especially if you're black or middle eastern, be ready for an inquision. This is a rough podcast episode to listen to but no need to sugarcoat things.      ------ Digital Nomad Physicians site: https://digitalnomadphysician.com/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mohammad-ashori-md/ Digital Nomad Virtual Practice: https://digitalnomadhealth.com/ DNP Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/d ..read more

The Illusion of Meritocracy - Finding What Matters to You

Should healthcare be a meritocracy? Perhaps. But it's first a business and trying to make it be anything other than a business may lead to frustration.  However, as a physician if the goal is to enjoy what you do and offer value to patients, there are lots of microclimates you can practice in.    ------ Digital Nomad Physicians site: https://digitalnomadphysician.com/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mohammad-ashori-md/ Digital Nomad Virtual Practice: https://digitalnomadhealth.com/ DNP Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/digital-nomad-physicians/id1573062922 ..read more

Leaving Behind the Legacy of a Cash-Based Practice
Digital Nomad Physicians
by Mohammad Ashori MD

The cash-based medical practice isn't the best model in healthcare but it's the best one we have. I often catch myself wondering what legacy I'll leave behind; not that it's important to leave a legacy but I love the art of medicine and would love to leave it better than when I entered it or at least have a meaningful impact on it for everything that it's given me.  A cash pay practice is one in which I deal with the patient directly. And building such a practice creates a community of like minded physicians who will likely be my fellow supporters. And it's the kind of system in which I w ..read more

Hiring a Marketing Firm for My Virtual Practice

I recently interviewed Jeff at Practis which is a marketing firm for medical practices. He was quite helpful and gave me some general advice and broke down the prices which comes out to somewhere around $900/mo for me to have a social media campaign, a website, and a few other services all built out over a 30 day period.  You can check out some of the themes they use on their website to see if it's the kind of website you'd like for your practice. Again, the website design isn't the most important factor but what you have on your website.  I really like the way OSHI appears as a webs ..read more

Digital Nomad Physicians
by Mohammad Ashori MD

Look, you can make it super complicated or you can just get it done and move on. In my online course, DocDigital, we are making our way through the Accountability Week and the students have 7 days to get EVERYTHING done to have their practice be 99% functional and ready, including seeing their first patient. Nothing feels as good and real as seeing your first patient. Getting to that point as quickly as possible in my opinion is one of the best things you can do.  ------ Dr. Mo Linkedin Digital Nomad Physicians Telemedicine: Digital Nomad Health Heart Health Coaching: Cardiac Health Coach ..read more

An In-Person Visit With a Cash-Based Specialist Physician

My girlfriend just had her visit iwth a specialist who is cash-based, meaning he charges cash and takes no insurance. Really great experience and for $500 per hour it was a good deal for my partner to get good quality care. I don't think she would have gotten care this good from a specialist in the insurance system or at least it would have been much harder to find that diamond in the rough.  ------ Dr. Mo Linkedin Digital Nomad Physicians Telemedicine: Digital Nomad Health Heart Health Coaching: Cardiac Health Coach Physician Career Coaching: Consulting Private Virtual Practice Online Co ..read more
