My wife drives a M3 which I will sometimes drive but when I try to make calls or send text it doesn't allow me to even though the settings show that my phone is connected as a key and BT device. I also have the settings to enable my contacts and text messages to sync but nothing. However if I tell siri to call/text it's works fine. I've deleted and added my phone back and still no luck. Anyone else run into this issue ..read more

Yesterday I finally had to use for the first time the towing capabilities of my Tesla Model Y. I went to U-Haul and got a 5' x 8' Utility Trailer for 6 hours. Maximum recommended speed for the trailer is 55 MPH (88 km/h). I used these : Trailer hitch ball mount Trailer... Towing with my Tesla Model Y LR ..read more

Buying a used Model Y - how many miles is too many miles?

Hi all Looking to buy a used 2022 or 2023 Model Y. Within my budget I can get a 2022 model with low miles (say less than 30k) or a 2023 model with higher miles (say around 50k miles). I drive around 10k miles a year. So am thinking if I get a 2023 model with 50k miles then I will hit 100k within 5 years which seems like a lot(!) I understand 2023 model has upgraded suspension does anyone know which month this is from. Thanks ..read more

Alternate Phone Key Issue

I am the primary driver of our 23 MYLR. On the occasion that my wife drives it, her phone key will not allow her to start the car. She has to use the key card, at least initially. If she drives it a number of times without me driving it, her Phone key will work. If I get in it after she has driven it, I have no trouble driving immediately with my phone key even if I don’t switch to my profile. Has anyone else experience that? Is that normal ..read more

I have a question about the manual: Enabled: Model Y supports the CCS communication protocol and can charge at any CCS station (adapter required) and third party NACS station. Not enabled: Your vehicle currently does not support the CCS communication protocol for NACS and CCS charging stations. Use the mobile app to see if you are eligible to schedule a service appointment to enable this through a hardware retrofit. Availability of this retrofit may vary... Css charging ..read more

I was on a road trip from Asheville, NC to Banff, CA and back, armed with FSD (12.3.6). I went through various driving scenarios and provided necessary supervision. On the return segment, right around Minneapolis, I backed into a charging station, and then continued. It was a dark and stormy night. I engaged FSD in the middle of well lit civilization. As I moved into the dark countryside, I got flagged that FSD was compromised. No problem. Then I took it off FSD to make some... Camera temporarily unavailable ..read more

Model Y AWD or RWD

I finally was able to answer the question : when the AWD are used in my Tesla Model Y ? And the answer is pretty blunt : when the road surface is slippery or bumpy. For the rest, the RWD behavior is the "default" one. And yes, the front motor is sometimes used for regenerative braking. I made a short video testing the acceleration, the deceleration, driving at 114 km/h, at 119 km/h and even doing a brisk acceleration above 130 km/h. The rear motor is doing 95% of the job during warm climate... Model Y AWD or RWD ..read more
