The original Anthology was released by Cornell & Diehl in 2022 as a celebration of the company’s 30th anniversary. It featured a number of tobaccos that paid tribute to the brand’s rich history. Anthology 2023 is a similarly celebratory blend, though it celebrates the year 2023, showcasing a curated selection of exceptional Red Virginias from across the year’s releases. La Palina’s newest release is a very special collaboration with Oliva Cigars. To celebrate their brand owner, William (Bill) Paley’s 75th birthday, they’ve introduced the La Palina 1948 line. Made in Estelí, Nicaragua, at Oliva’s Tabolisa factory, La Palina 1948 consists of a sun-grown Ecuador Sumatra wrapper that, according to the company, was aged for two years. The rest of the tobacco is from Nicaragua, grown on farms owned by Oliva. The cigars are medium in body and will be released annually in limited quantities. Celebrating NASA’s historic return to the moon, we welcome Fratello’s THE LUNAR line of limited edition cigars. Fratello founder, Omar de Frias, is a former NASA project manager. For 2023, Esteban Carreras Cigars has released a second cigar in their TAKEN FROM THE DEVIL’S HAND line, following up on 2022’s TAKEN FROM THE DEVIL’S HAND DARK COROJO. Frankly, I’m finding that there is quite a bit of confusion throughout the Internet between the original Dark Corojo wrapped cigars and the new Corojo Maduro.
