Clear coating windshield and sun roof glass

I'm posting from a motel in Nashville as Auto Amor is applying a clear film to the windshield and front half of the sunroof glass. In the first five years, both the windshield and front of sun roof had suffered road debris, stone impacts. Once cracked, air and water get in and the cracks grow. The clear coat film blocks air and water access so the small impact area remains insignificant. Satellite Autoglass replaced the windshield for $1,200 and after camera calibration, announced they are... Clear coating windshield and sun roof glass ..read more

Tesla Insurance - Help!

We've had Tesla Insurance for about 2 years - for our new Tesla and for my porsche Cayenne and Panamera - and they have been terrific, if mostly over the internet... UNTIL we had a catastrophe 8 weeks ago, a massive pine in our garden fell down on top of all 3 cars and our garage. All were badly damaged and undriveable. I contacted Tesla Insurance the same day and tried to speak to someone with no luck, and sent in the crash forms and photos for all 3 the next day. A few days later I was... Model 3 Won't Shut Off

Lately, occasionally our Model 3 won't turn off the lights, turn off the stereo or A/C when we park. The car will lock but everything else stays on. Just curious if anyone else has had this happen. I fought with it for for five minutes at a restaurant putting it in drive then park repeatedly until it finally shut down properly ..read more

Model 3 Windshield Wipers

The OEM set started chattering after 6 months. Tried cleaning the windshield, twice, alcohol, etc. Cleaned the blades, twice. Still chattered… Bought new blades – fine for only about a year – chatter - just replaced them again. Why do I think they should last longer? Anyway, If you don’t like paying $50 for a set a blades from Tesla, you can save yourself some coin. Bosch Aerotwin A102S are a direct replacement. I compared these closely to the OEM blades and it seems obvious that Bosch is... Model 3 Windshield Wipers ..read more

I replaced a rock-struck, sonic sensor, on my 2019 Tesla Model 3 Std Rng plus. Tesla estimated just under $300 but I did it with a $55 eBay part. I'll soon clean the debris on the radiator and condenser coils. I'll also clean out the cabin air filter and put a leaf blocking, air filter of the inlet. Good quality Model 3 cover alternatives?

Hi there, new (to me) Tesla owner here. Just traded in my 2018 Honda Clarity for a 2018 Tesla 3 Dual Motor Long Range due to the pending fuel pump recall with no ETA on parts and the basic math making the trade a no brainer. I'm completely blown away by the experience of the Tesla vs. the Honda from two very different 2018 cars with quite similar used prices. As for my question: we park our car outside since we use our garage for high-end mountain bikes. I'd like to get a car cover to... Good quality Model 3 cover alternatives ..read more

Cold spell, 27 F and 20-25 mph wind, really chilled the car. This slows charging as it first has to warm up the battery. Even then, charging rate is reduced because the warmed up battery is still cool. So the local, CCS-1 DC charging went from ~48 kW to initially 9 kW with heater off. The cabin heater added 2-3 kW load. What would normally be about 30 min grew to an hour. The extra charging cost negates savings from a lower motel rate. The best... Lessons learned ..read more

Outside Wall Connector

Has anyone installed a Universal Wall Connector in an enclosed lockable cabinet? Lots of EVSE cabinets online, but they all show the old Wall Connector w/o magic dock. The cabinet needs to be wide enough to allow for retrieval of the charging handle either with or w/o the CCS adapter. Any ideas? BTW, I’m asking for someone who is not a member of this esteemed forum. I do not actually own a Tesla. Yet. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs ..read more
