The Official Daily Banner Thread

As if it weren't bad enough dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, we no longer have a daily banner to look forward to. I've decided to remedy this by posting my own banners in this thread. I'll try to do this daily, although I may slip occasionally. In the past the banner size was 615 x 123 pixels. I've decided to keep the 5x1 ratio, but to increase the banner size to 4000 x 800 pixels. Feel free to submit candidate banners! Please do so on the... The Official Daily Banner Thread ..read more

OK. Northgate has had its own thread for a long time, so I figured it's high time that U-Village had one as well, since there's quite a bit of current and planned large-project construction in the vicinity. Here's part of it... Greater U-Village 2/19/21 4801 24th Ave NE (first rendering) and 4715 25th Ave NE (second rendering) These are the two huge projects that are next to each other, across 25th Ave NE from U-Village... THE planning discussion and ranting thread

(originally in the Renton/Tukwila/SeaTac/Burien Development News thread) I should really just avoid reading this thread, but: :soapbox: The absolute worst thing a region can do with regard to sprawl is to put a large amount of jobs outside its center. Every job in a suburb is commutable from a cheap home in the far suburbs, inaccessable by transit from most everywhere, and increases the odds of difficult commute options for 2-worker families. The trend toward moving jobs out to the... THE planning discussion and ranting thread ..read more

With a number of large projects getting started, the small urban village on the northeast end of one of Seattle's most popular parks is in for a major change in the next few years. Here's a rundown of a few of the biggest projects in the area. The Greenlake Condominiums: Completed 2004 6 stories, 106 units http://seattlecondosandlofts.com/2007/02/the-greenlake-condos The... I think it's appropriate to have a thread now. First public hearing is scheduled for April 3rd. Here is the link to the proposal: https://development.bellevuewa.gov/...le/pdf/Land Use/19-104024-LP-19-104023-LD.pdf To quote the packet (bold for the good stuff): "The proposed project includes the development of three 600'-tall towers atop a 40'-tall podium. To the north and east, the podium is interconnected with existing / proposed... BELLEVUE | Onni 606 (606 106th Ave) | 3 towers | 600 ft | 182 m | Approved ..read more

This was probably too much for Coffee Shop, not quite Business and Apples news. So a new thread it is. How on earth does this relate to skyscrapers? It doesn't at all. But I care about skyscrapers partially because density is a solid strategy to reducing human impact, and I think discussing cleaning up our impact would be interesting to many here. If this thread survives, mods willing, feel free to post anything about sustainability in Seattle or WA. I went down a bit of a rabbit hole...
