The purpose of this series is to live a life worthy of the Lord, and we have used Colossians 1:9-14 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[a] 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you ma ..read more

As humans when we ask each other questions, we want information. But when God asks us a question, he already knows the answer. He is trying to tell us something, and if we can recognize this we can gain wisdom and truth. Isaiah 43: 18-19 says: “Forget the former things;     do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!     Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness     and streams in the wasteland. These verses remind us that it’s his wisdom we need. If we are in tune with God, we can gain ..read more

Summer is always fun here at Antioch, we use the summer months for 2 things, and they are to go deeper in God and deeper with one another.I have been thinking a lot about what we are called to do as a church. The phrase that God has given me is that we exist to be and make disciples of Jesus. Church is and can be so many different things.  But for us the undercurrent of our house is to be a people who spent time with Jesus, long to become like him, and do what he did.    The rhythms that we have defined to help us build towards our God given purpose in life are: ENCOUNTER, MATTE ..read more

We have been talking about the fact that although there is not a redo button in life, there is a transformation for us in this life through the work of Jesus.   Romans 12:1-2 says: Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. I have been thinking a lot about the journey that God has had us on the past 7 years as a church. All the moments I didn’t see coming, all the twists, turns, and changes that come with building a church. And I was reminded of a passage of scripture in Isaiah 43:18-19 that says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” This is what we are going to focus on this week, walking in the NEW thing. We have to chose not to live weighed down by the old ..read more

What I Sees VS. What He Sees “How to live the life of the Kingdom of Heaven into every corner of the human existence.”  Dallas Willard   Our vision at Antioch Austin is only as big as what we collectively commit to. Our hope is that the Gospel grows in you, so that it can grow through you, and impact our city and our world. The great commission of Jesus is to “go and make disciples”, which means we first have to become disciples ourselves.   Jesus called us to be a disciple, a student, an apprentice of who he was. Romans 12:1-2, tells us:   “Therefore, I urge you, br ..read more

This is the first in a series on Fresh Starts, and we will be using Romans 12:1-2 to guide us through. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” To follow Jesus means that all of who we are is affected by the God we serve. New Life   Our culture naturally associates work with worth. We must work for what we have and to have worth, and anything that goes against this notion is hard for us to receive. The idea of receiving something without having to earn it or be worthy of it is so hard to comprehend because our culture and this world are designed on the idea that “the harder you work the more your worth”, and “If I do the right thing, good things will come to me”. These worldly ideas sound great until you find yourself in the position where you make a mistake. Then these ideas tell you: “you have to work yo ..read more

Worship Belongs to Jesus Palm Sunday is the day where we look to Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.  This was the beginning of the last days of Jesus life on the earth.  This was the start of what Jesus had made clear to his disciples about what was going to happen to him, and in-turn in us.  In Mark 16:21 it says: “From that time on, Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day  ..read more
