Can one person really make a difference? Seriously, can ordinary people influence others to change? Nehemiah is a book in the Old Testament about a man who makes a difference. Rather than settling into the comforts of mediocrity, indifference, or apathy, he decides to do something about the mounting injustice in his world. As cupbearer to the King of Persia, it would be easy for him to stay in his comfort zone. After all, he was second in command to the king, and life must have been pretty swell. Read Nehemiah 1. The Wall is Torn Down In 605 BC, the Jews were hauled off to Babylonian captivity ..read more

It’s a New Year! It’s a new day! And time for a grand new adventure! I️ love how God doesn’t allow us to remain stagnant, like a smelly, dead pond with moss growing on the top and a multitude of mosquitoes looming nearby. No, instead, our lives are like a river where life abounds. Each day is full of treasure awaiting us to discover God’s goodness. For God’s peace is like a river (Isaiah 48:18), constantly flowing regardless of what life may bring our way. The kind of peace that God provides is authentic rest and tranquility. Come what may, the peace of God surpasses our understanding. A super ..read more

When the World Gets Crazy, Know God Is Always Up To Something

The world seems pretty unpredictable as of late, so I must remind myself that God is always up to something. But when I take a look around, it sure doesn’t seem that way. Our nation seems more like a dysfunctional family with constant bickering and fighting. Not to mention all the chaos ensuing outside of our borders too. I find it difficult to turn off all the news and tune in to what God is doing. It is so easy to get entrapped by cultural lies. Live in fear. Close down. Be anxious. Stay downtrodden. There’s nothing good in this world anymore. Some of us are growing weary and ready to throw ..read more

What Happens If We Surrender Our Lives to God?

We often fear what we will become if we surrender everything over to God. I️ mean, we fear that He will make us do something that we don’t readily want to do, or go somewhere where we don’t want to go. Deep down in the crevices of our soul, we believe that God is not truly worth living for. And as a result, we believe the lie that we need to “hold back some.” Confront the Lie What if instead of listening to our earth-bound, flesh-driven way of looking at life, we tried to understand God’s point of view? Many of us get wrapped up in hiding our true selves rather than allowing God to expose what ..read more

How is God’s Burden Light?

Burdens seem heavy and overbearing, like a ton of bricks on our shoulders. Although often invisible to the outside world, they weigh us down. And interestingly, in the long-haul of a far-reaching pandemic, I️ would say this is how many of us feel right now. WE.ARE.TIRED. A GREAT INVITATION With the daily barrage of bad news escalating around the world, we can easily feel downtrodden. Fires. Hurricanes. Unrest. Sickness. Death. To name a few. For it seems that everywhere we turn, there is yet another burden that we pile on. And yet, God promises us that His burden is light. God invites us to co ..read more

If God is always working, why is life so hard?

Do you ever wonder why life is so hard? In Genesis 50:20, after a roller-coaster ride of a life, Joseph says these astounding words, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good”. If you’re unfamiliar with this particular bible story…let me catch you up to speed. Joseph is considered a patriarch in the Old Testament and is the favorite son of his father Jacob. By favorite, I️ mean that his father doted on him and gave him extra candy and loosened up the chores. At the time, Joseph was the only son birthed by Rachel, Joseph’s favorite wife. This is where the story gets ..read more
