Our local Kia dealership is has no stock of 12V batteries for a 2018 Niro PHEV. I have read that a Group 99 battery will fit and work. Does anyone know how I can determine if Costco sells Group 99 batteries? submitted by /u/Ethan_A1967 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Tons of rattle with music above vol15 on 23 niro (harman) ?

EQ at default (0,0,0) and the bass is kinda bloaty and really rattles the right front passenger window. If I open the window a tiny bit, the window rattle goes away I've noticed. And there is more rattle if I crank the volume to 20-25. Especially in the doors and a tiny bit in the back. I saw some reviews claiming the harman in niro 23 doesn't have enough power but holy hell it is very loud!!! It's barely listenable above volume 25. As for now, to test, I lowered the bass by -3 and there is less rattle. If you want to share your EQ or sound deadening tips, you are welcome Anyway - the sound q ..read more

Got a 2017 niro 5 months ago for 14k 77k miles now at 79k miles nothing wrong I'm enjoying the car love it. Just thinking ahead what are some of the maintenance I should be doing? This is my first car. I was also wondering how does the brake work? I noticed everytime I brake there's a click I guess this is normal? I just changed my sister toyota brake , but apparently hybrids are different don't need to be changed as much. Things I should probably get checked filter, 12v battery, brake fluid since it's at 79k mile. Should I do oil change every 2k miles or 3k? Thanks, loving the niro. Summer 4 ..read more

Is dealer lying about used EV credit for 2024? Help

An independent dealer claims that the 2020 Kia Niro PHEV already has the $4k deduct from their site. It states on the website. My question is how do I confirm this? The reason I ask is because I want to franchise KIA and the manager did not know til I showed the IRS site then he confirmed that the finance guy has been working on this last month for POS deduction. This was for 2022 Niro PHEV. Can anyone clarify if the independent dealer is telling the truth or not? submitted by /u/bobbychow305 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Inventory situation with Niro PHEV

I'm curious what information is out there on the inventory/delivery situation with this PHEV. Not in a rush so any information through rest of 2024H1 or 2024H2 would be useful. Currently I only see one in the SF Bay Area, compared with probably 100 across Ioniq5/6/EV6/EV9 and ~10 across the Kia/Hyundai Sportage/Sorento tier of PHEV. Also, what are people cross shopping with Niro PHEV? submitted by /u/ZanyDroid [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Dumb regen questions

So the title. I'm not an engineer At. All. but want a little more info about how & when the forward momentum of the vehicle (23 phev) charges the battery. Thanks in advance for educating a nonscientist ! Does the car have to be actually braking to recoup energy from its forward momentum? As in, does just driving both use energy to move the car forward and recover a portion of that energy as the wheels go round? Does the hybrid engine have to be engaged for Regen to work? Sorry to be a dummy. I have read the manual but it's like pushing my brain through a potato ricer honestly. submitted ..read more

Transmission failure at first and third gears - 2023 Kia Niro w/ under 20k miles

Dealer is replacing the transmission since it is under warranty. However I’m worried that it’s going to fail again before it hits 40,000 miles. I’m not very confident that the new transmission will hold up considering that two independent gears failed. Has anyone else had issues with their transmission? submitted by /u/CognitiveMonkey [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

The sales rep told me 7500. The finance guy told me 7000. A service agent told me 3500. A second service agent told me 3000. My owner's manual says 8000. My app says 24000 (no way) --- thanks again submitted by /u/Showny16 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
