Hello all, my 2011 SR5 has been diagnosed with an evaporator core leak by my local trusted mechanic.  They replaced the damper 3 months ago and the HVAC works like new until the Freon gets low.  My question for the “brain trust” is……what else should be replaced while they have the dash out?  The odometer now reads 309,672 and I dream of reaching 500K before I croak.  This is my first visit to this forum so please excuse me if this is a commonly asked question and kindly direct me to the posted info.  Thanks ..read more

Hello everyone trying to figure out what's going on with my 2002 sequoia 2x4 I recently started to drive it more often bought it 1 year ago with 95k miles when I bought it 1&2nd kicked while shifting put some Lucas trans for time being. 6 months later after 5k miles drove better but wanted to change fluid so I flushed total of 12 quarts 3 attempts through trans cooler did see some silver flakes fluid was black maybe never changed does have low miles for 02. My 1998 Dodge Durango was on it's last leg and left me stranded.  I checked out Autotrader and found a 2007 Sequoia, Original Owner, Garage Kept, with 46K original miles on it.  Sanpped it up in a heartbeat.  Guy had three other people coming to check it out but I was first with a Zelle deposit.  Happy to join the ranks of fellow TOYOTA owners.  I do all my own maintenance/repairs so hope this forum is a good place for answers and tek-tips. Posting in hope that a newbie like myself will have a shorter path to locating and adjusting their headlights. If only it was as easy as popping the hood and reaching in. The metal framework that holds the radiator and front end together totally blocks the task from above. I did the drivers side and it take you 5-10 minutes. Overheating! Have changed thermostat. Changes water pump today. Had vehicle at dealership earlier week. Dealership tested for exhaust in coolant…no exhaust. Ran for an hour trying to burp system. Heater blew hot initially then stopped and blew cool air and hoses to heater core cool to touch. Bottom radiator hose cold to touch.engine will overheat when raining rpm’s. What’s up?   2011 Sequoia had interior light left on which drained the battery.  Unsuccessful at jumping it, so replaced the battery.  Engine check light was on and would not go off. It would lose power and die driving down the road. Stranded twice. Took to a local shop, which kept it overnight to test for drains, claiming battery was good. Stranded again, and the local shop now said it needed an alternator and the battery had dead cells. The shop replaced alternator, battery, and now three weeks later it won't crank again.
