Hi guys- Sorry in advance for a long post about my 4wd blinking orange light problem... I've been reading many posts on this wonderful site as well as others devoted to toyota trucks as I've got the blinking orange light - 4wd problem as well on my 2002 Sequoia SR5 that I've owned since buying it 8 years ago next month brand new - 79,000 miles on it. I am trying to avoid opening up my wallet for the dealer if I can fix it myself with parts. I'll give you what I've done and figured so... 2002 Sequoia No 4WD, Blinking Orange Light, Actuator Issues ..read more

Seat Belt Cleaning

I was looking for a quick job to do and noticed the driver's seat belt was looking a little ick. So I decided to do something about it. I've read that you can use Dawn dish soap on it to take up all the hand oils that it picks up, and I may do that later. The product I used was a can of regular carpet cleaner. I don't think it matters what kind you choose. Having the attached plastic bristle brush on the can helps a lot with cleaning. It also helps to have a clamp or vise grip to hold the... All right ladies and gents, I searched for this and couldn't find anything, so any insight is very much appreciated. I have a 2004 Toyota Sequoia with 108,000 that I have no record of a timing belt ever being replaced. I called my local Toyota dealer and they want over $1,000 to do the job. So I'm going to buy a kit and have my local mechanic do the work. My question is, I would like to buy the best kit possible. It's my understanding that I need to replace the timing belt, water pump... Best Timing Belt Kit ..read more

I've been diagnosing a P1443 check engine light and according to the Service Manual, the flow chart says replace ECU. After I replaced the ECU with the same part number from same year Sequoia, I performed the 30 minute initialization process. The engine would start and run for one second before cutting out and die. Same thing would happen trying to start the truck multiple times. Pulling codes shows B2799 for immobilizer and another code for Throttle Position Circuit (Can't remember the... 2005 Sequoia ECU swap, starts then dies after 30 minute initialization process ..read more

P0300 P030X engine codes misfire

Some troubleshooting tips. If you get P0300 P0301 P0302 P0303 P0304 P0305 P0306 P0307 P0308 error codes and you have an engine that misfires or runs rough, it can be the injector for that cylinder or the coil pack. The P0300 code is a random misfire code and may or may not be the above. All the other messages are for misfire of a particular cylinder indicated by the last digit. Test the coil pack by switching it to another spark plug and see if the problem follows to that cylinder... P0300 P030X engine codes misfire ..read more

Well, after much difficulty and trouble I've finally learned how to do this. My instructions are to follow... Understand that my background is in aircraft manufacturer and my specialty was dealing with operations that were considered "inaccessible" due to various reasons but I'm quite used to working in cramped conditions and near-impossible access problems. With that said, this has to be one of the worst designs I've ever had to deal with. What I've learned in the process I've decided to... Rear Parking Brake Shoe Replacement Instructions ..read more

C1247 code question

My 2006 SR5 4X2 has the familiar C1247 code plus the normal relevant codes. So far I have installed 2 new vsc master pressure sensors, a salvage and a rebuilt power brake booster and all come back to throwing C1247. My understanding is that this code is generated by a stroke sensor that is inside the booster. Is there any adjustment for this sensor as it is said to measure the speed the pedal is applied. If there is an adjustment then I may have hope, if not then I am stuck waiting for... C1247 code question ..read more

Walking on the naked roof?

Has anyone walked on their naked roof? We'd really like to add a ladder to help with our kayaks and the look of the truck. I have no doubt that a ladder will also invite us to climb onto the roof. Will it dent? I'm afraid to try it, and wonder if anyone has experience with it ..read more

I had an awesome 1999 4Runner that served me and my wife well for years and 2 years ago we decided we wanted to add a 1st gen Sequoia to our lineup since they have similarities and we might enjoy it more. The build was on the backburner of life while we relocated from Dallas to East, Texas to try and make it out in the sticks and pursue "country living." While living in Dallas, I traded fabrication for a no-title 2001... Help with first start ..read more
