Red Bud Isle is definitely a favorite spot in spite of the long line for parking. The peninsula and waters edge made for a perfect summer time photoshoot location. The large cypress trees provided much needed shade while we walked around taking photos. Towards the end of the session we kicked off our shoes and splashed around in the water documenting this sweet moment of the parents splaying with their son. I loved Kelsey’s outfit choices with pops of bright colors all warm and vibrant but not too matchy. The orange, yellow and tans make for a perfect combo ..read more

I love asking questions and getting to know my clients during their shoot. When I asked about how Robert proposed they paused and looked at each other with a grin. Then Jordan replied… let’s just say it took a few shots to get it right. :).
We started out on their wedding day at Butler Park. It was a gorgeous overcast day which worked out great since the session needed to start kinda late in the morning to make it to the courthouse for the ceremony. There’s something undeniably romantic about stripping away the fuss and focusing on what truly matters: two people in love, committing their lives ..read more

Wear comfortable clothes
Comfort has two different meanings. When I say be comfortable I’m not talking about wearing your lounge pants. I’m more so saying it’s important to be YOURSELF! When you wear outfits that don’t resemble your everyday clothing selection, then you will feel slightly off and out of place. So this doesn’t mean ditch the high heels… it just means that if you haven’t worn high heels in a decade… no need to start now. But if you love your stilettos and they are a common outfit choice… then bring it on!
Embrace the chaos
I love a good posed, all eyes on the camera shot jus ..read more

Leeann + Nolan had their first date at good ole Barton Springs., so we re-lived that moment by taking their engagement photos there. Barton springs is an iconic Austin staple for soooo many good reasons. The clear spring fed waters are 68 degrees year round. Even in the dead of summer, it’s enough to take your breath away when you dive in. And dive in they did! Luckily this time they had each other to keep warm :). We met at sunrise to hopefully beat the crowd but in true Austin fashion it was already full of people. Their day didn’t end there… coming soon to the blog is their intimate wedding ..read more

Now it’s my turn.. my sweet little girl is now a graduate! She was part of the senior graduating class of 2024 at Anderson High School. I wouldn’t say I’m a terribly emotional sentimental person in general but this one tugged on some heart strings. I can’t believe it! Like where did time go and how did I go from having a baby to having a best friend? I’m so incredibly proud of the woman she has become and so thankful I get to be her mom. Here are a few favorites from her senior portrait session ..read more

Where do I begin… I met this talented duo about 15 years ago at an event and I’ve been taking photos of them ever since! When I say talented, I’m not kidding… not only are they themselves talented photographers they also use to have a band called The Rankin Twins and if you’re lucky enough to ever see them in person you will see how they give the Dixie Chicks a run for their money. We met up a few months ago at their studio some updated branding photos and headshots. Check them out ..read more

It’s been a couple of years since my last post and interview with Judge Chu about how to get married at the Travis County Courthouse. Judge Chu has since moved to the Probate Courthouse and Judge Rick Olivo is now presiding at Precinct 5 so I figured an update was needed.
First off, a common oversight is which location you are choosing when you schedule your courthouse ceremony. For the sake of this blog post I will share details on how to get married at Precinct 5… the historic Travis County Courthouse (my personal favorite)
How to get a marriage license ….
You can obtain a marriage license ..read more

I do! Lauren and Chad have been together for 10 years and when it came time to tie the knot they knew they wanted a special day without all the fuss of a big wedding. Precint 5 Travis county courthouse is classic and timeliness and the perfect backdrop for a simple low key Austin wedding. We planted to meet at the courthouse steps after she texted me and said “We are walking up, I’m the one with the Lego Bouquet” !! What?! So cool right? I mean, this is what I’m talking about….
