As we hurtle towards the end of another year, here are some releases gathered from the last four weeks or so. We have three from Chaotic Pop Records. This Indonesian label has fast come my favourite of this year and if they keep it up, next year too! We have lead tracks from the forthcoming Ducks Ltd. and The BV’s albums which hint at special things to come. 93MillionMilesFromTheSun have returned with a new EP and are one of the many shoegazing highlights in the mix. And indiepop? That’s covered by the likes of mmmarkos!, The Yellow Melodies, Pálida Tez, April June and a few more besides. As ..read more

Imber is a shimmering shoegazing track that washes all over you with it’s dreamy and ethereal vibes. It’s a lovely follow up from the Sydney based 5-piece outfit to their debut EP Colourwaves that was released back in June, especially the standout track Tides. Facebook ..read more

The new single from Manchester’s Cruush is, according to singer Amber Warren, “just a happy silly song about nature and fairies.” Based on her childhood obsession of wearing her fairy wings everywhere, coupled with reading her favourite poems by Cicely Mary Barker, it’s a short but hypnotic shoegaze inspired track. As She Grows is out now via Heist or Hit. Warning: This video contains flashing lights. Viewer discretion is advised. Instagram ..read more

So a combination of COVID (yet again!) followed by a busy time at work has seen an enforced absence from these pages. So without much ado, let’s get stuck into the releases I need to catch up with. Here is the Playlist: or listen on YouTube Track list: Spunsugar – San Jose There is a little bit of Curve on San Jose, which is the latest single to be taken from the forthcoming album A Hole Forever. Shoegaze and electronica combine to great effect, and the joint vocals work pretty well too. Strangely it’s backed with two other tracks from the LP being It Never Gave Me Everything and Flaws. Stomp Talk Modstone – WYD

Oh, hang on! It’s that a bit of electronica I can hear in the latest single from Stomp Talk Modstone? It is you know and the band’s usual blend of noisy shoegaze has only gone and been replaced by synths, breakdowns and thumping bass laden beats. The female vocals also give the song a dynamic edge. Thankfully, it does not sound like one of those dance remixes that accompanied and plagued guitar led bands back in the day. It should not work, but thankfully it does and do you know what it’s very good too. More like this one, and please release the version with the intro from the video too! Fa ..read more

It’s been a busy last week or so, and although I have been listening too and reading about music, I have not had a chance to jot anything down. Here are what others are saying about albums I have enjoyed. Please add these sites to your reading lists, RSS feeds, sidebars, bookmarks etc. Swansea Sound – Twentieth Century “Consequently, this album has a pretty well-defined target demographic. And not one that has been algorithmically compiled either. It’s for the disillusioned but still vaguely optimistic 50-Something former Indie Kid. (the smart teenagers of 1983-1989.
