A Motorcycle Ride to Mexico “We now live in a world where man has walked on the Moon. It’s not a miracle; we just decided to go” – Astronaut Jim Lovell (Gemini 7 and 12; Apollo 8 and 13). That quote above about sums it up about our recent ride throughout Mexico. From SoCal I went to Tucson and met up with my friend Dale. On a Sunday we crossed the border at Nogales and at Km 21 we processed our TIP then headed to Ciudad Obregon for the night. From there it was Mazatlan to Guanajuato, to Guadalajara, to Valle Bravo, Texoptlan, Oaxaca, Tlacotalpan, Veracruz, Xlititla and finally Monterrey before ..read more

Places Traveled Today: Miles Ridden: “Is there any need for me now to explain? I think you can guess why I’m now feeling like I am.” “No, I can’t. Well, first off, the yanquis took half of my country away in 1848. You can’t continue to keep moping over it.” “Well why not?” – Anonymous. Welcome to the first dispatch of our southern border motorcycle riding adventure. Let me begin by saying that this motorcycle ride was on, and then it was off again. https://www.gpskevinadventurerides.com/upcoming-rides/chiapas-tzotzil-23 The link above shares with you last year’s ride we took with gpskevin adve ..read more

“If everything seems under control, you aren’t going fast enough” ~ Author unknown We must be crazy, extremely passionate for the sport or maybe a little bit of both. Roberto set the alarm clock for 0500. Why so early I asked, we’re not even legally allowed on the lake until daylight. He said it takes him allot longer than Todd and I to get dressed. Roberto was planning on dressing for bear. (this term, dates from the mid-1800s, alludes to the heavy charge of powder or lead that hunters use for large animals like a bear) Todd and I also had to explain it to him so don’t worry if you also didn ..read more

The sun hasn’t risen yet but, we’re both ready for today’s Delta ride. Initially, Roberto wanted to launch at Coyote point (same as yesterday) and then head right instead of left towards our Delta destinations. I say to him; are you feeling extra adventurous today? Do you now know that the only thing now standing between us and the Delta are countless miles and miles of nothingness but boring water from here to there. “We should conserve our gas and drive up. What do you think?” Well, Mother Nature quickly intervened on my behalf and covered the entire San Francisco bay with a thick layer of f ..read more

“If everything seems under control, you are not going fast enough” ~ Author unknown Life is always about balance. Like for example, taking a break from motorcycles and switching gears to the water. My water propulsion device today is a 2022 Yamaha FXHO and my friend Roberto rides a 2023 Seadoo FISH PRO. Today I christened my lime green watercraft the M/V Guacamole. Roberto’s Seadoo I christened the M/V Agua Con Gas. Normally that’s how he orders his water. M/V stands for motor vessel. We launched at Coyote Point near San Francisco into near flat and windless seas. The air temperatures were in ..read more

What a ride. Roberto asked me what was the best day of the trip and I was able to recall it. Some people stated it was all a blur. The day after the first rainy day. Then it never rained on us again. The temperature dropped to 6 celsius at its lowest and 31 at its highest. I rode and chased friends, I enjoyed multiple bottles of the finest wines and usually with Canuck Jim nearby. One of the best guys to have around to break the ice or to get the grumpiness out of those in the ground that needed it. You grow as a group. There was no politics either locally or back home to discuss since we had ..read more

I now say to the matronly Spaniard woman staring up at me, wearing typical “grandma glasses” you know the kind, they have large, round lenses and thin wire frames. Anyway I casually announced to her that I’m old. She says prove it to me. I whipped out my passport. She takes a hold of it and starts to ring me up a ticket to visit the MUSEO DE ALTAMIRA. I now say how much? SHE SAYS NOTHING. ITS FREE FOR YOU! What. I didn’t expect this. If you look online the ticket prices are only 3 euros. So I walked away leaving a five euro donation. The Altamira cave where I am at now instead of possibly car ..read more

Once upon a time there were motorcycle riders from California, Washington, Canada, Mexico and even Alaska. They cruised around Spain for something like 15 days, on rented motorbikes, only stopping periodically for gas, to pee and when they were hungry. At the end of the riding day they arrived at the nightly chosen destination, Juanjo would unlock a rented vehicle and out would come the luggage. I’m now feeling Gump like in that, “I’m pretty tired. I think I’ll go home now.” So what impressed me the most today? Was it the two gas stations that we stopped at? At the first station, a young Span ..read more
