The Dempster Highway Adventure Riders Facebook group responses were all very favorable, kind and supportive of me; I basically posted what could now be called an all out call to the town for help! I had basically 90 minutes to myself from the time my flying body made contact with the solid calcium chloride gravelly ..read more

There’s a huge sense of relief in me now that I’m almost off the Dempster Highway. The most miserable gravelly road into Tuktoyaktuk is long past. Letting another ten pounds of air out of my front tire did the trick. The near white out conditions created by any truck, RV or large vehicles coming my way or me passing is over. And now food, fuel and lodging can be easily found I am still in Eagle Plains so anything can still change but, I am hoping that it only does so for the positive. For those not familiar with the Dempster it is the only road in Canada that takes you across the Arctic Circle ..read more

Dawson City and On To Tuktoyaktuk Today The coffee shop Riverwest in Dawson opened up today (Sunday) promptly at 0700. Kevin and I made the mistake of letting Roberto go ahead of us. Another barista cashier had to be called five minutes into opening. The second line was now faster than the first line on account of our friend. The rest of us and everyone in line order straight from the chalkboard menu; without any special instructions or customization of the meal but, not our friend Roberto. And then we hit the road towards the Dempster Highway. (South of Dawson). There’s a gas station called ..read more

The motorcycle rider from Ventura California now seated beside me said that we were now two diamonds in the rough. He added that we both rode our way up here to Dawson City, Yukon Canada under our own power and then met by chance. Most riders don’t ride all the way he added . The 84 year old Canadian from a nearby province was the character who was doing most of the talking. At 84 he was still driving his twin turbo charged Mercedes Benz car and was now camping in a tent nearby the Downtown Hotel, famous for its great food, booze, and stories from people you meet like these two guys. The Road to Tuktoyaktuk – A Motorcycle Ride Story Episode I- The planning and preparations If you at once rush your views and any observations quickly into print, you might end up with an interesting story but, there’s so much more that usually comes along that gets missed. And now here’s my first unedited draft version with a little backstory to go along with it. One of our three riders (Roberto ) is now a victim of circumstances much as “Curly” (as in Larry, Moe and Curly of the Three Stooges) whose one particular catchphrase when caught in a precarious situation; would remark, in a Brooklyn ..read more

I’ve been on the road for about a month, and since my older self may one day want to know what I was up to in the year 2024; here’s a somewhat brief summary of how I ended up on a motorcycle ride to Tuktoyaktuk, NW Territory, Canada. We all know that as we age and some of us finally stop to take in and smell the roses, that we don’t or won’t remember as much detail of life our lives, as we did when we were younger; that is unless of course, those moments get imprinted in us to become “a significant emotional event.” I now go down that rabbit hole to share with you how that “significant emotion ..read more

A Motorcycle Ride to Mexico “We now live in a world where man has walked on the Moon. It’s not a miracle; we just decided to go” – Astronaut Jim Lovell (Gemini 7 and 12; Apollo 8 and 13). That quote above about sums it up about our recent ride throughout Mexico. From SoCal I went to Tucson and met up with my friend Dale. On a Sunday we crossed the border at Nogales and at Km 21 we processed our TIP then headed to Ciudad Obregon for the night. From there it was Mazatlan to Guanajuato, to Guadalajara, to Valle Bravo, Texoptlan, Oaxaca, Tlacotalpan, Veracruz, Xlititla and finally Monterrey before ..read more

Places Traveled Today: Miles Ridden: “Is there any need for me now to explain? I think you can guess why I’m now feeling like I am.” “No, I can’t. Well, first off, the yanquis took half of my country away in 1848. You can’t continue to keep moping over it.” “Well why not?” – Anonymous. Welcome to the first dispatch of our southern border motorcycle riding adventure. Let me begin by saying that this motorcycle ride was on, and then it was off again. https://www.gpskevinadventurerides.com/upcoming-rides/chiapas-tzotzil-23 The link above shares with you last year’s ride we took with gpskevin adve ..read more
