Today I am going to explain what and why baptism is so important in the life of a Believer. The Baptist Faith and Message (2000) is our basic doctrinal proclamation that we as Southern Baptists have ascribed to. It describes our ordinances and the beliefs as we know them from God’s Word. Isaiah was a prophet that wrote about 700 years before Jesus’s ministry began. He wrote his prophecy mainly to the southern kingdom of Judah, but also to the northern kingdom and all of the Gentile nations that were willing to listen. His main reason for writing was to show how serious God takes His covenants and to give His people hope for the future. In Isaiah 34, the prophet brings a message that begins with “For the Lord is enraged against the nations….He will completely destroy them.” There certainly isn’t any hope in this message! As most of you know, in 2022, I was led to start us on a journey of looking at what I like to call our yearly aspiration verse. What is an aspiration? It is simply a goal, something to aim for, something to work towards. You’re going to hear the verse, recite the verse, and hopefully memorize the verse throughout the course of the year. Most importantly, though, I want you to LIVE the verse for the remainder of your lives.
