Driving style to warm up battery pre-charge?

Has anyone experience of a motorway driving style which will generate more battery heat e.g. sport mode or high regen levels. I am thinking 20 mins driving in a certain (but safe) way may introduce heat into the battery before starting a charge and reduce time at the DC charger on a motorway trip? Or does it drain battery more so that more charge is needed anyway? Cheers ..read more

New Namsan delivered and happy we are. Loving the digital teal, after thinking it had to be gravity gold. 500 miles in. The charging flap has to be prised open ☹ Scheduled charging has us all but beaten. WTF. Nor has it ever worked via Bluelink. What on EARTH. Otherwise, absolutely delighted and EV converted <makes secret sign> ..read more

Should Hyundai have released the Ionic 5 as a "Genesis" ?

I was just watching this review of a car from Hyundai's luxury brand, Genesis, and thought that it would have been a great move if they could have used this brand to badge the Ionic 5 in the UK. The interior looks absolutely fantastic, up there with Mercedes quality. Considering the Ionic/EV6 is the first car based on an entirely EV platform and it has high-end pricing, it could separate the model from the cheap little hatchbacks that Hyundai is commonly known for... Afternoon, So, for a bit of a back story, I've got a 2021 Ioniq 5. It was charging last week at a public Pod Point charger and there was a power cut, which seems to have caused all kinds of error messages, the car being forced into limp mode and the inability to charge it. Long story short, after a week the local dealer has diagnosed that a new ICCU is needed. From doing some research, it looks like ICCU failure is pretty common, so I just wanted to know how long owners have been waiting... Faulty ICCU and part waiting times ..read more

Rising Hyundai thefts - are negligent manufacturers finally held to account?

Two significant articles appeared recently in The Guardian and The Times exposing the negligence of manufacturers who were warned over a decade ago about the rising vulnerability of keyless vehicles and the need to invest in greater security before it's too late. So far, the only party paying the price seems to be consumers who are burdened with ever-increasing insurance premiums and who seem to be the only ones investing in additional security measures. There have been so many threads on... Rising Hyundai thefts - are negligent manufacturers finally held to account ..read more

Facelift Ioniq 5 released in South Korea

Quite a few updates, most notable is the rear wiper of course, but nothing stated about security and PIN to drive. Some worthwhile updates, the main one being the rear wiper of course. Would be good if the dashboard was configurable to show the speedo in the centre too and a Bluelink app that could export data and have a sensible layout with key info on the home page unlike the present poor implementation. The one item... Facelift Ioniq 5 released in South Korea ..read more

Charging on schedules and Solar

Hi, I'm the new owner of an Ioniq 5 and also have solar panels and a home battery. I have been charging overnight normally and using "scheduled charge" to ensure this uses the best rates from my electricity supplier. However, I can also charge using solar power with my EV charger. When I've tried to do this, it sometimes fails and I think this is because BlueLink is set to overnight charge, so it won't accept a charge at another time unless I click "start charging". Is there a way... Charging on schedules and Solar ..read more

UK 2023 Ioniq 5. I noticed the nearside front flap is not closing - the offside one does. When I plugged in to charge it did close, but unplugged it is now open again. No blockages or anything else stopping it closing as far as I can see. Can I try anything before heading to the dealer ..read more
