Hey guys, I hope everyone is having a good day! We are a small manufacturing company, we are looking to invest in a laser cutter. Here is a list of our requirements: -Cut MDF up to 3/4'' thick. -Cut Plywood up to 3/4'' thick. -Cut acrylic and other plastics up to 1/2'' thick. -Cut steel and stainless steel up to 16Gauge thick. -Able to process full sheets, so we need a machine that has a minimum cutting area of 48'' x 96''. These are our only critical requirements. We are currently... Read more ..read more

Fiber laser cut quality dropping over short period of time

I've got a Mazak Super Turbo X 3015 3.0 kW fiber laser. New to me, but 2018 vintage with about 600 cut hours. We got the machine online a month ago with on-site training from a Mazak Optonics application engineer. We've run about 5 or 10 sheets of material through the machine, mostly thin stuff. During the training we ran everything from 0.036 thick to 3/4" thick. Mild, stainless, aluminum, copper, and galvanized steel. Now have a job needing 1/4" stainless. Parts take about 2 minutes to... AR550 Welding/cutting tips?

Im curious if anyone has had any experience with AR550 steel and fabricating with it, I got some 1/2" plates dirt cheap from steel mill ($0.35lb!) to use as abrasion armor in crushers and cutting edges on blades, but Im wary of damaging its abrasion resistance with a plasma torch. Whats the ideal way to cut it, and if need be welding it while retaining its durability? AR500 has a lot of info out there but I haven't found a ton of info on AR550, I feel like a laser table would be ideal but... Read more ..read more

Laser cutting a hard file

I have a request for 500 pieces made out of a rasp like files (56R/C) that I sent to a local shop I sub out laser work to. They said it's not a good fit, no way to locate the blank, and doubtful laser would cut the material. We can get 4 parts out of each file (the 3" version of the attached). Trying to avoid using a cut off wheel or wire EDM. Is laser really not an option, or did my local vendor not want to fool with this? For reference the blank file is .17 thick by 1 3/8 wide by 14" long... Read more ..read more

Hello, Does anyone know how to change the hitch feed counts on an older HFA250W? This model has no PLC, its all relays and timers. There is a VFD in the back for the motor but thats it. I am not sure how to adjust how many "hitch feeds" it does. It currently feeds 2x. It might be an HA250W ..read more

Hello, We have a Cinnanti Press Brake AF135 (from 1990 upgraded to Win8 I believe) that was moved from USA to MEX, 2 yeas ago. It came with a left cylinder leaking, but working. Later last year started to present some issues while bending so we decided to rebuild/repair the cylinder leak. I quoted the repair and that was around 17K. So I started to look for a local service and found one, which never heard before around the area, so we sent the cylinder. Cylinder came back and installed... Read more ..read more

Aluminum for welding fixture? Good or bad?

Is it a good idea or not to use aluminum for welding fixtures? We work with 100% steel and til now any fixtures have also been made with steel. However they are heavy and spatter sticks. For the most part I'm thinking aluminum would be the way to go....My concern is if I do some heavy welding on a plate clamped to an aluminum fixture will that be a problem ..read more

Hi All, I need to make this: Or have it made. It's 1/8" thick with a 1/8" lift and 1/4"holes. If flat, it would be 1". It's 5" long. Anybody know the exact name for this profile? You guys helped me identify this as a 'joggle' but I can't find much from that on the interWeb. Or, does anybody want to make about 100 of them? I'm using them to cinch down Tesla modules in a 1984 Jeep, CJ-7 EVC project. Thanks, Patrick ..read more
