Focussing on nature in 2024 The Aldenham Estate (where Home Farm Glamping sits), is working with experts from Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust to implement an ambitious Environment Management Plan designed to increase biodiversity across the Estate and help address the devastating findings of the Hertfordshire State of Nature report that was published in 2020. So far we have planted nearly 3,000 trees, restored hedgerows, reinstated 6 ghost ponds, removed swathes of non-native plants from our woodlands and installed nesting boxes for a wide range of bats songbirds and owls, with the help ..read more

We wanted to share with you the difficult decision we've made to remove the individual firepits from each of our tents this season. It's a decision that aligns with our commitment to preserving and protecting the environment, and wanted to offer a detailed explanation of why. At Home Farm, we are working closely with the Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust on an ambitious environment management plan to improve biodiversity on the wider Estate. In the past few years we have planted nearly 2000 trees, re-established hedgerows, dug six ghost ponds, removed non-native species from our woodlands ..read more

What happens to our waste and recycling?

COP27 has got us thinking. Not just about where we can be improving our sustainability credentials and carbon footprint, but ensuring our current systems, processes and contractors match our commitment to the UN's Global Goals. The galling reality of processing recycling in the UK results in well over half of our collective plastics being shipped to places like Turkey to be 'processed' or worse, thousands of tonnes are burned here in the UK. This prompted us to reach out to our waste management supplier Spectrum to find out what exactly happens to the waste produced by guests at Home Farm Gla ..read more
