An example of how all front axle components prevent wobble or not? - by: Scimike

I subscribe to a theory that ALL the front axle components contribute to keeping steering wobble under control.  My Jimny doesn't (well it didn't) have wobble, smooth upto flat out, but if you hit a pot hole you are aware of a little oscillation that soon stops. It's also completely standard, no lifts or large tyres. I have a need to make the Jimny ride less "hard", so I've backed off my adjustable suspension dampers front and back to the softest setting. As a result I can now feel a little oscillation in the steering at about 48, it depends upon the road surface more than being permanen ..read more

I have for sale 5 off standard Jimny steel rims, these came off a Gen3 originally, but will fit a Gen4. Unsure about LJ or SJ models. They do need attention, would make ideal winter rims to save your alloys from all the salt on the roads. £40 collection only from the OL2 area (Oldham, Lancashire). I don't mind driving half an hour to meet up. 25% of the proceeds will be donated back into this forum.  I also have for sale 4 off Bridgestone Dueler HT tyres 195/80/15. These came of an LCV and are all showing 7mm of tread. I can add pictures upon request, but I'm sure we a ..read more

Thought I might as well start a new thread for myself. So right to the beginning: For the last 7 years I have been very happy with my 2011 Toyota iQ3. I'd never even thought of changing my car until I saw one of the early press release pictures of the New Jimny. The look of it had me hooked straight away. As soon as my local dealer put the Expression of Interest on their website I made myself known, I think that was early August, then at the end of August they contacted me to say they were taking fully refundable deposits, I put down £100. I was told I was one of the first on the list, they ..read more

Third car. first Jimny, thought I'd finally get around to making a build thread with all the stuff I've done over the last couple of years. Dubbed "Jenny" I bought her February 2015 from a local car auction, 2008 Reg and around 120000 miles for £3000 (I won the auction at £1750, but the owner wouldn't let it go for that unfortunately ). A few photos to tide you over for now, plus todays additions, and I'll upload more pics when I get around to it ..read more

New SJ owner - couple of q’s - by: lesgrandepotato

I’m the proud owner of a 92 Samurai. We’ve had it a week or two. So far we’ve pulled the body off and stripped the chassis.  Couple of bits that spring to mind. We’ve replaced the original springs and shocks with the OME kit. That should do the trick for some basic trialling. But if we want to go higher will the OME shocks take a set of lifted shackles?   Secondly…. The body mounts behind the seats and in front of the wheel arches. One fell off when we pulled the tub. I’ve ordered the panel from India. Thinking about making a jig with 20mm box off the centre mounts and cutting the o ..read more

So I've driven the Jimmer into a fence post, at speed... What next? - by: GandHisJimny

Tragic news. On Sunday I went for some accidental off-roading. I don't know exactly how but I lost control exiting a roundabout in the wet and slid into oversteer (I think). It could have been my speed, pooling water, braking at the wrong time or all of the above (or something else entirely) but it happened. I collided with a hedgerow / fence post at maybe 15-20 mph. My ego and heart are broken but I am otherwise physically ok. A few people stopped to help (I was the only one in the car) and it has now been recovered & sent to Copart for evaluation. No airbags deployed. Aside from seekin ..read more

New Suzuki Commercial - BigJimny Offer - by: mlines

I know where there are a small number of brand new, unregistered Suzuki Jimny Commercials that will be sold at a BigJimny discount BELOW LIST PRICE.  I will say that again, BELOW LIST PRICE These are through a Suzuki dealer and you will deal directly with them as a customer. This is an offer for real BigJimny Forum members, not quick flippers in for a buck. Remember that if dealers are starting to discount this does mean that the market is probably softening. Please only contact me if you are a genuine buyer as I do not want to ruin a good relationship I have with Suzuki through tyre k ..read more

Purchased new by me, been on my Jimny for the last 5 years and in all that time I've never driven over any rough terrain. Its been in the way more than it's been useful to me, removed to fit a new CAT this weekend but I can't be bothered to refit it. From new I stone chipped it, covered it  in waxoyl to protect that iffy powered coating you get on them, so it's more or less rust and damage free. Asking £65. Breakdown for transparency: £15 Postage and packing ncluded to uk, but some postcodes excluded, using EVRI - God help us ! £10 Donation will be made to Big Jimny forum successful sale ..read more
