There is a clutch of fertile gahrial eggs in Zoo Protivín! Already! The pair is there since 29th October, looks they get used to theit new environment well. 15 eggs in the clutch, sadly the male managed to damage some so "only" 7 more or less undamaged eggs are incubating. A small private reptile zoo is under construction and should open in spring or summer 2025. Located inside old farm house (formerly a mini golf areal) on outskirts of town Hradec Králové. Map suggests it could´ve space for some outdoor enclosures too. It plans with snakes (including venomous), turtles, iguanas, various other herps, amphibians and insects. I´ve never visited, can´t find their current list online and ZTL is unfortunatelly not up to date. The former roadside zoo Biopark Štít ´s been sold by Antonin Hnizdil to a new owner Ladislav Rabina sometime during winter. And re-opened under a new name Animal Park Rabina few days ago. It seems the property changed hands including most of the original animal collection. Quality of enclosures is barely there to keept animals contained inside and not be called outright cruelty by locals, but dont expect anything more. The zoo obtained two young white-tailed sea eagles. They have genetic illness that impacts structure of feathers thus they are unable to fly. Source paraZoo opened in 2012. It´s the smallest licensed zoo in Czechia (ca 0,1 ha) and with the weakest exhibit quality of them all. This is a small private bird park under construction in town Jaroměř. Planned opening is ca March 2024. Total areal under ownership of the park is 3000 m2, however only around 1000 m2 would be developed with aviaries and other infrastructure at first. This place won´t try to get a zoo licence thus will collect only "voluntary" entry fee. It will also run a rescue station for exotic birds with approved capacity of 100 birds. A new petting zoo is being buit adjoining areal of AQUAPALACE Čestlice - this is a popular water entertainment park with swimming pools with attendance of 1 milion annually. It´s located few km south of Prague on main highway and within huge shopping district. They will have domestic animals and clearly don´t want to obtain zoo licence (you need a zoo licence in case you exhibit 20 wild animal species or more).
