Hey all! I'm currently going through and analyzing the last 50 years of talks. While I'm still trying to do a word count/phrase count of the sessions/conferences, I got stuck and needed to work on something else... So: who is the most prolific speaker? It ain't rusty, nor will it ever be! Check out the top 20 speakers: Number of times spoken within a General Conference. From the 50 years of conference talks, there has been 526 different speakers. 166 of them have only spoken once, and only 76 have spoken more than 10 times. Edit: More fun details. Youngest speaker was roughly 14-15 (in Te ..read more

I recently told my wife that I did not believe that JS was a prophet and that the church was not true, at the very least, in the way the church claims. Despite reaffirming my commitment to participate in church (excluding the temple) with her and supporting her in her belief in anyway I can, she is threatening to either not have more children (something we have both eagerly wanted) or leave me altogether, which I imagine also means trying to take our current children with her. She even made a list of “conditions” all of which I am meeting/more than willing (even genuinely excited) to meet… bu ..read more

I just need to vent. Does anyone else feel like the root of so much unrest and evil (that is, human nature evil, not the big boogeyman trying to make us all do bad things) is religion, in particular the Abrahamic religions? I get so pissed off when I hear about the atrocities being inflicted on the innocent people in Israel, all because of a MF religious belief!! The future of the human race doesn’t look good if people don’t get over the bullshit in these supposedly “sacred” texts and start thinking for themselves and not letting some mystical guy who lived thousands of years ago dictate how ..read more

A Question to Ask Next Time Priesthood is the Subject in Class

I asked this one in Elders Quorum once and it stumped everyone. "Are priesthood blessings more powerful than prayers?" "Yes." "So a woman, in the middle of nowhere, with a sick child and no Priesthood holders around, deciding to pray over her child, is less likely to be answered than a man who many miles away is doing the same thing except with the power of the priesthood?" I swear, nobody knew how to answer that one. submitted by /u/Rockatansky68 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
