Talk some sense into me or validate me: new bike purchase/immediate 11sp Linkglide conversion

I'm thinking about a new bike purchase. It's a full build with an XT 12-speed drivetrain. While I've been quite happy with Shimano 12sp performance for the last 4 years, I'm interested in the Linkglide 11-speed XT drivetrain as a path towards great performance, durability, and inexpensive parts. The loss of a 10T cog is irrelevant to me. This is my first time through this, so I want to make sure I've thought it all the way through. The wheels don't excite me much and my plan is to have... Prowheel vs SRAM direct-mount chainring

My fat bike came with Prowheel MPX11 crankset (see the attachment), and the chainring needs to be replaced. At the first sight, the direct mount seems to be the same as SRAM X-Sync 28T Direct Mount (3mm Offset), despite the spline looking a bit different. Are the two compatible, i.e. will X-Sync chainring fit on the MPX11 crankset ..read more

I have finally managed to get a brand new D1 chain and thus compare all three (brand new) chains - Eagle, T-Type and D1. Not surprise for me - the T-Type is longer than original Eagle and thus the links has a hair longer pitch ..read more

Is there a way to replace preload adjuster on SRAM cranks?
Mountain Bike Reviews Forum » Drivetrain

I bought this beautiful preload nut for SRAM cranks made out of red aluminum only to find out it doesn't fit, because the threaded plastic sleeve that sits on the crank spindle has its threads cut off in two spots out of some bizarre reason only SRAM knows. Anyway, does anyone know if there is a way to remove this sleeve? I can't tell whether it's pressed on, glued or whatever ..read more

The Future of XTR.

As l see it l, SRAMs electronic drivetrain has made Shimano and XTR obsolete. There is nothing lust worthy about XTR. This current generation isn't at all beautiful and It offers nothing in the form of competition drivetrain jewelry (the hubs are really nice however). The shifters for a example are plasticky and dull black. The Deore rear derailleur is fancier looking than the XTR and the cranks are nothing special. XTR needs to one up sram (and XT, SLX, ect) in everyway and make something... The Future of XTR ..read more

Transmission failed me, back to the drawing board for my wife's bike, need some ideas

I have decided to abandon the idea to build my wife's new bike around the Transmission drivetrain after having horrible problems with it on my own bike, and now I am somewhat unsure what to do. The basics, or in other words, what I have: Propain Hugene frame Race Face Era cranks Hugene is supposedly made for 52mm chainline (although if I remember correctly this has nothing to do with the frame but rather... How is the shifting on a SRAM XG-1175 cassette?

Compared to the XT M8000 11-42? It would be used on a 1x11 bike with a Shimano rear derailleur, though. (Yes, I will have to get a wheel with the XD driver) Also I hope it doesn't have the problem of the chain dropping off the biggest cog when backpedaling. Main reason for getting this is it weighs nearly 100g less than the XT ..read more

GX derailleur wiggle

Greetings, I have been having a problem with my mechanical GX derailleur where it will not stay in 2nd gear, it will either climb from 3rd to 1st, or drop from 1st to 3rd. Shifts well otherwise. In trying to track down the issue, I noted that my parallelogram is wobbly. Is this normal, or have I found my problem? The only way I figure to know for sure is to spend the cash on a new derailleur and see what happens, but I hope someone here knows enough to offer some advice. Thank you. [ATTACH...
