So I’m installing my new ls7 clutch kit( from txdrivetrain )on my 2005 gto(first time ever being this deep in the car ) ! Came with new pilot bearing , slave cylinder(factory gto replacement ) , ls7 clutch ,ls7 pressure plate ,& ls1 flywheel while reusing my stock bellhousing and t-56 m12 trans . Measured my air gap and got “.015” when all the math was said and done . Excuse my ignorance as stated this is my first time and I guess I’m just paranoid but what shim would I need to meet the... 2005 Gto w ls7 clutch air gap ..read more

Clutch master leaking

This might be a long shot but was wondering if anyone had a thought on my master from 2QWK4RU. I installed this thing 12+ years ago along with a Monster stage 2. The pedal was always a little more difficult to push compared to my buddies who put the exact same master and clutch in. Doesn't matter how much I have attempted to adjust it or bleed it. I was adjusting the pedal yesterday and noticed fluid coming from the rod inside the cabin. Is this worth attempting to rebuild or should I just... Clutch master leaking ..read more

Rear Coil Spring Pads

I recently discovered my 06 GTO needs new rear coil springs. It currently has a set of blue Lovell's lowering springs, but the passenger side spring is shot. I noticed the pads under the springs are rotting, and moving freely under the springs. I'm thinking of going back to stock height springs, but I need to know what size pads I should get for stock height springs on the rear?? I noticed there are all different sizes, but i was thinking 6mm pads. Did these cars come factory with pads ..read more

Just got to putting my Whiteline poly insert into my stock dif mount. Stock mount looked brand new still. Got it in with the vice/piece of wood method. well as the title states, I was putting the two rear facing 22mm bolts back in before lining up the mount to bolt it back down to the top section. Got the top bolt in. went to screw in the bottom one..hand threaded first but just thought it was a little more snug because of the poly (as the top bolt was a little tougher to get in as well but... So I have a canted LSS in my 04m6. I absolutely love the feel of the LSS for the stock knob, wish I would’ve done it a long time ago. Anyway, when i installed, I used some 3M heavy duty glue on the lss shaft when sticking the stock shift knob on to seal it. Well it came loose when shifting from 1st to 2nd and now my shift knob is loose and I need to know what’s the best adhesive to use to ensure the stock knob sticks nearly permanently on the LSS shifter stick ? RTV!?? How would that stick... Stock Shift knob glue ..read more

I recently rebuilt my diff and everything is brand new. I went with motive gear performance ring and pinion (3.90), Eaton truetrac, I went with upgraded billet steel side adjusters that use a bigger carrier bearing, and I went with all timken bearings/races. But it’s making a small noise. It does it at all speeds/ all gears. It gets louder the faster I go. I’ve rebuilt diffs before but not with side adjusters. I’m thinking my slight noise is the carrier preload. So my question is what is the... Carrier Bearing Preload ..read more

I have a nicely modified 04 M6 GTO nice custom grind comp cam, Kooks LTs, fast 102, 102mm TB, 3.90 gear short throw rip shifter and an expensive ass tune! Car makes 419rwhp. Currently has a CENTERFORCE stage 2 clutch that was beat on pretty hard by the previous owner. It has finally decided go out the pressure plate has ZERO clamping force! I always said when it does go out that a LS7 clutch kit would be a great match for this car. But I don't like the fact that the flywheel is so much... 2004 GTO LS7 Clutch ..read more

Brakes need attention

Greetings Guys; Well my OE brakes are showing their age, kind a like the owner? Only 19 years & 49169 miles of service & the rivets that hold the pad on the backing plate failed! And I thought it was a bit of rust on the rotor (lot rot) from setting all winter in my heated garage. No, no the pad is gone & Mr. owner you are grinding backing plate against rotor, BAD owner. So .015' - .030" of damage on the inside surface of the rotor. Should clean up just fine as I see that 5/8' is minimum. So... Brakes need attention ..read more

Name that FPFQ sound. LS7 clutch, new T/O bearing and new pilot bearing by the previous owner. It makes the sound clutch in or out and only when cold. It has made this sound since just after I got it. I have heard another 6 speed make the same noise. I have plans to swap the clutch for a Monster unit, OEMish T/O bearing and new pilot bearing ..read more
