TTeo is the pseudonym of Matteo Capreoli – a half German, half Italian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer with a deep musical heritage. Recently, though, he was serendipitously handed a batch of cassettes by his dad of some of Lovexpress’ (the former band of his father) live shows from the late 1970s. TTeo was deeply impressed by the quality of the music and got his father to digitise them immediately! These recordings form the basis of, and the inspiration for, his upcoming LP – Lovexpress77, and are the only known recordings of the band who never quite made it into the st ..read more

This July the esteemed scribe, proper DJ, and discreetly deft twiddler Bill Brewster, drops the latest instalment in his ‘After Dark’ series, for Late Night Tales.
A throbbing, louche and leisurely affair, groove is very much at the heart of this freestyle selection, a vibe which Bill describes as “a basement, a red light and a sound system. Or, as the Beastie’s once rapped, slow and low, that is the tempo”.
There’s Hawaiian drum machine bossa balearica from Island Band, percussive afro post punk from Czech jazz singer Jana Koubkova, and breathy-bubbling-dubwise ..read more

Enigmatic Belgian trio KAT channel their inner French touch with sly nods to Daft Punk, Modjo and Cassius, utilising 70s funk, disco and house as a canvas for an upfront club cut ‘Le Weekent’, out now through Capitane Records.
“We call it lo fi hi fun; we found challenging to have a song theme played with woodblocks, while the intro was based upon some previously recorded delirium on Kool and the Gang’s celebration drum fill. Then we imagined a gang of late 80’s cat party wavers dancing on it and the mood was there.” – KAT
For years, KAT’s recordings have been shrouded in mystery. But they sur ..read more
