Caught two of these today. The first one didn't have any lines, just a solid blue color. One was 24" the other 28". I always knew what a remora was, but never caught one before, I was pretty shocked when I reeled it in. submitted by /u/SaltyKayakAdventures [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is it legal to fish next to piers where shark fishing is banned? I don't see any law against it or whatever, and I'm sure its frowned upon, but ya boy might get desperate if I can't catch a shark on other beaches. submitted by /u/Ccukman [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I travel to Florida 2-6 times a year. My surf fishing stomping grounds are from Cocoa Beach south to Key West. Tampa down to Naples and over to Miami through the Everglades, and from Pesacola west to the AL border and east to Panama City. I usually rent surf rods from MWRs and Outdoor Recreation centers aboard the bases when their opening hours align with my trips. The bases around here have the same thing but their ODRs are closed Sat and Sun so you have to pick up stuff by Friday and return during the week I have travel rods that I pack in my carryon that I used for freshwater fishing and o ..read more

In town for a few days and trying to squeeze in some fly fishing in between taking care of two toddlers. Did some wading off Heckshore and caught a couple of good size fish on a black clouser but it's too hard to get to with time constraints. Have been up before dawn the last few days trying to fish the surf but haven't had any luck despite seeing some fish in the surf. Any tips or tricks? Or am I wasting my time? I've been trying to cast out past the waves but that's hard. Have also fished the surf parallel to the sand. Where in the hell should I be casting? Have thrown a bunch of different ..read more
