Back in the day, when I was whizzing around the lower atmosphere at the behest of Her Majesty, sticking a helmet on my swede didn't seem anything other than routine.  In fact, apart from a tour on a four-jet, I wore a flying helmet for 18 years and about 4000 hours.  So why don't we consider it a good idea to wear a helmet when we are flying light aircraft?  Statistically, the risk of flying general aviation aircraft is similar to riding motorbikes on the road.  I love motorcycling but would not dream of jumping on a bike without a helmet. I have a brand-new Bonehead Composites PilotX Flight Helmet (size large) with comms for sale.  The helmet weighs less than 2kg and is the lowest profile helmet I could find on the market.  I ended up buying the version with ANR, so this was never used.  It has a dark visor, gel ear cups, ear cup covers, carry bag and a spare microphone sock.
