I have been given a big job of providing the cdc pre diabetes program for our community. I am in the process of developing a website to have folks log in and take the pre diabetes test. What motivates someone to take the free test. Scare tactic or a stay healthy message? I need to have a message that is motivating to discover pre diabetic population. Any advice would be appreciated ..read more

I have pre diabetes and I’m trying to figure out what to eat and when. I generally don’t eat breakfast, if I do it’s fruit such as berries. For lunch I’ll have a piece of cheese and more fruit. Dinner I try to eat low carb and watch the portion size. What can I do to improve my diet ..read more

Hi, new poster here. Since discovering I'm most likely pre-diabetic I've made some changes - mostly more exercise and less carbs. I'm exercising every day now and eating much less carbs. I have a high metabolism and low BMI so have always eaten a lot of starch like beans, lentils, potatoes just to maintain body weight, but have replaced that with eggs, avocado, greek yoghurt, lot of salads, olive oil, hummus, and more meat. I'm wearing a CGM and keeping a good eye on it. Funny thing is... Read more ..read more

Hello, ladies and gents . I haven’t been on these forums in quite a while and I am returning to ask what you guys think . I am 37, almost 38 years old and back in 2018, at 31-32 years old , I had the health scare of my lifetime . At that time, I paid for some blood work out of pocket and was terrified to learn my blood sugar was elevated - I remember when the lady told me my blood glucose result was abnormal but she could not disclose the value - I rushed out of work to pick up the results... Hello, I am new here. I am a 50 year old male. My A1C has been in the 5.6 to 5.7 for years until this last test it was 6.0. During these tests I've fast and had a range of 85 to 107 glucose. I lost like 20 lbs since it was 5.7 and have been eating better some with some exercise. Yesterday I ate around 12:30 pm and 4 hours later I checked my blood sugar with my fathers meter and it was good, 91. I ate at my parents around 4:30pm some meat and carbs and took the last bite closer to 5pm. I then... Read more ..read more

A few questions

Hi everyone, I'm prediabetic on low carb and have some questions as I am trying to figure a few things out. 1. Have you run across a vial of test strips that consistently (the whole batch) reads higher than all your other vials? I've had that happen a few times, one recently. The batch number is only slightly different and the expiration date is the same as previous vial. I start new vials before I've ended the old vials for a direct comparison. 2. I am wondering what to do when I... Read more ..read more

So when I wasn't watching carbs past several months, I wasn't eating quest cookies any more, instead I was buying stuff from wending machine. When I did that, I had no problem eating just one item I bought, and in fact I was perfectly fine not buying anything at all. But now that I am concerned about numbers I bought quest cookies. And I just noticed that after eating first one, I was craving the other one, and now I just ate three of them. So could it be that when something is sweet but... Read more ..read more

Can 3 day fast distort a1c results

I know it can't affect the glucose part, cause its the gluocose over 3 months period. But I am wondering whether it can affect hemoglobin part. Because after I fasted for 3 days, I noticed that my blood is a lot darker than it used to be. So I am wondering whether it means I have a bunch of brand new hemoglobin created, which would make my a1c falsely low? I haven't tested a1c yet. But I am wondering whether I should, as in whether the result would be misleading if I do ..read more
