Hello. I am new to the forum. I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic several years ago, but my situation is unique in that I have cystic fibrosis. So my issues are specific to cf related diabetes. From what we understand (even the CF community is still trying to figure things out) cfrd (cf related diabetes) is a combo of both type 1 and type 2. I'm just a bit confused as to why they tell you to check at the 2 hour mark but not at 1 hour. From what we have been told, you should never go over...

I have never been diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes. But over the past three years, my feet and sometimes fingers often feel tingly and numb-ish. Mostly on the tops of my feet, my right foot more often. It is not constant. Because of this tingling, I had my A1C tested a year ago. It was 5.3, and the lab said my fasting blood glucose was 100. Weeks prior to getting the lab bloodwork, I bought a Dario home glucose monitor and tested myself multiple times. All results were normal...

Hi, I would like to ask if anyone can confirm the basis of a medical symptom, wherein if you have a random blood sugar value of 200 or 11.1 mmol
then it indicates that you have diabetes. I am prediabetic for at least 2 years now and in my time of reading and managing the condition, I have kept on seeing that if you had this random value no matter how long last you ate, it indicated diabetes. Is there any info regarding this? I have been looking and so far it just repeats this specific...

Is it possible for a 69 year old woman with pre-diabetes (A1C 5.8) to run a 1/2 marathon? I'm assuming it would take me close to 3 hour to to 13.1 miles. Right now I'm at 5k (3.1 miles) so I have a long way to go. I do low-carb now, is it possible to keep on low-carb and be able to go for that long? I figure it will take me close to a year to get ready, if I can do it at all. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you ..read more

This may not sound like it but this is a serious question. I have noticed for years that when I have maple syrup with pancakes that my blood sugar will drop rapidly in about 4 hours after I eat. I then have to take a glucose tablet or eat something to bring my blood sugar back up or I'm certain to have a hypoglycemic event. For this reason, I very rarely eat anything with maple syrup.
I'm usually trying to bring my blood sugar down to a normal level so I have been reducing my carbs but this...

Hello DD . I am new to these forums but I’ve been reading for some time and learning . I’m a young man, 33 years old, and maybe only 10-13 pounds i can stand to lose . No family history of diabetes . I am not diabetic but I’m worried about blood sugar issues. I’ve had a number of lab fasting glucose tests that range from mid-90s to mid-low 100s (up to 106) from what I’ve seen. Anything over 100 is obviously impaired fasting glucose , a form of prediabetes . I’ve measured myself using meters...

I have been given a big job of providing the cdc pre diabetes program for our community. I am in the process of developing a website to have folks log in and take the pre diabetes test. What motivates someone to take the free test. Scare tactic or a stay healthy message? I need to have a message that is motivating to discover pre diabetic population. Any advice would be appreciated ..read more
