Review: ‘Heart of the Wolf’ by Terry Spear

I read Heart of the Wolf by Terry Spear years ago and recently decided it was time for a reread, especially since I’ve never reviewed this book. I know that rereading can sometimes lead to a different rating, as our tastes and perspectives on reading can change over time. However, in the case of Heart of the Wolf, I stand by my original rating—this book remains a solid 5-star read even after fourteen years. It was the first shifter romance I read and opened the door for me to explore more titles in the subgenre. Terry Spear captured my attention right from the beginning with Hea ..read more

ARC Review: ‘Mated for Christmas’ by Terry Spear

It’s been a while since I last read a book by Terry Spear, and I plan to change that soon because she has written many books that I need to catch up on. Her Heart of the Wolf series was one of my favorites, and I discovered it at a used bookstore years ago. I can’t believe I’ve been neglecting to read more from her wolf series. However, I want to mention early in my review that Mated for Christmas didn’t grab my attention like her earlier books did.  A Brief storyline: Sheri Whitemore is a Private Investigator, and her latest case has her looking for a wife’s husband who went mi ..read more

ARC Review: ‘The Wrong Bride’ by Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe

I was so excited that Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe were teaming up to write a Paranormal Romance series together, and I couldn’t wait to dive into The Wrong Bride. If there is one thing you should know about me, I’m going to gobble up Paranormal Romance books, especially if Gena and Jill write them.  If you loved the movie Freaky Friday, you’ll definitely like The Wrong Bride, especially with its paranormal twist and how it’s set in Scotland. The main character, Elizabeth Darcy, is supposed to be traveling back home from her vacation in Scotland, but she finds herself stuck in ..read more

Review: ‘Love Lies’ by Cynthia St. Aubin

Love Lies is the third installment in Cynthia St. Aubin’s Tails from the Alpha Art Gallery. This series has become a favorite of mine, and I can’t get enough of it. It features a fantastic cast of characters, including a heroine who adores her cats and loves eating cheese, an overly protective art gallery owner who is also a werewolf, a nosy cop who is obsessed with the heroine and is determined to take down the art gallery owner, and many other unforgettable characters.  In the third book, Hanna Harvey is dealing with the unsettling situation of someone leaving heads in various plac ..read more

ARC Review: ‘My Vampire Plus-One’ by Jenna Levine

I was hoping My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine would have grabbed my attention more than My Roommate is a Vampire, or at least made me laugh. Unfortunately, after reading the first book and now the second book in Jenna Levine’s My Vampire Series, I don’t think I’m the right audience for these books. Just like the first book, the second book is set during modern times with current pop culture references and political concerns, which didn’t bother me. It was the fact that the antagonists in this book, who were a group of vampires called The Collective, were not intimidating at a ..read more

Review: ‘Recovery Road’ by Christine Feehan

Recovery Road is the eighth installment in Christine Feehan’s Torpedo Ink series. If you enjoy reading Motorcycle Club Romances with dark themes and a paranormal twist to it, then this series should be added to your TBR immediately. Fair warning: you may want to check your triggers before reading this series because what the MC members endured when they were younger, which Christine Feehan mentions in each book and what they are currently fighting for, is not for the faint of heart.  This time, readers get Kir “Master” Vasiliev’s book, and this guy has been through a lot. He’s also b ..read more

Review: ‘Bespelled’ by Laura Thalassa

After the cliffhanger from Bewitched, I was anxious and excited to start Bespelled, primarily because of how the FMC, Selene, was treated not only by the other witches but also by Memnon, the sorcerer whom she had awakened, who is supposed to be her soulmate. At least that is what Memnon keeps telling her, even though he’s acting nothing like a soulmate, trying to frame her for murders and also get revenge for what she supposedly did to him years ago. She is in jail initially in Bespelled due to what he did in the first book.  Bewitched was definitely a true ..read more

Review: ‘Love Sucks’ by Cynthia St. Aubin

My poor husband had to suffer with me ignoring him on our road trip from Texas because once I started Love Sucks by Cynthia St. Aubin, I had a hard time putting down this book (or, in my case, stopping the audiobook). After the crazy cliffhanger from Love Bites, I needed to know how Hanna was handling the news from her boss, Mark Abernathy. I also couldn’t wait to find out what other adventures or issues Hanna was going to have to deal with due to working with a boss who was a werewolf, as well as the werewolf artists who worked for him at the gallery he owned.  Poor Hanna ..read more

My Roommate is a Vampire is Jenna Levine’s debut novel. I love finding new authors, especially when it’s their first book. I read this book to fulfill the Fated Folly prompt for the Romanceopoly Challenge I’m participating in this year–Read a Paranormal Romantic Comedy. Unfortunately, this book wasn’t as comical as expected and was more silly than anything when I was listening to it. I should have picked up another book to fulfill my prompt for the reading challenge, but I pushed through it, hoping it would get better.  I should have known better when picking up this book because I’v ..read more

Review: ‘Southern Howl’ by H.M. McQueen

Southern Howl is the first book in H.M. McQueen’s Magic and Mayhem Southern Shift series. This was a fast-paced paranormal romance novella that involved the FMC, Jane returning home, and finding herself in the mince of having to decide between three prospects of mates that she never signed up for in the first place. One of them was her ex, who is a werewolf, like herself, whom she thought cheated on her years ago.  Jane is back at home during the Gathering, where it’s a tradition that everyone finds a mate for themselves. Unfortunately, she doesn’t want to participate but her family ..read more
