Why Grenada?

We're looking at cruise itineraries in the Caribbean . I always like to include a new port or two. We've been to a lot but there are still quite a few ports we haven't been to before: Grenada, Bonaire, Curacao, Grand Turk, Puerto Rico ,BVI , Dominica, St Croix, Dominican Republic and Grand Cayman. Looking mostly for natural beauty, interesting architecture and photography, though shopping and food is good too! Not interested in adventure sports. A nice beach maybe for an excursion.   So tell me why we should choose Grenada? TIA!  ..read more

We will be in St. George's April 24 and we thought we would rent a car to travel around for the day on our own.    Have you had any good experiences with any particular providers? One walkable from the cruise pier would be preferable but it seems like most are in the Grand Anse area. Any tips ..read more

Cost of chairs on Grand Anse

Just back from our Caribbean Cruise and did our usual water taxi trip to Grand Anse Beach. Water taxi good value at $10 pp return. Shocked by the increased cost of loungers after being asked for $40 for 2 chairs and a parasol. We walked further down the beach and got a pair for $30 but even this made this beach the most expensive of the 2 week cruise. We also found the chair suppliers quite aggressive in their attitude and rude to some people. This was disappointing and may venture a little further to other beaches next year ..read more

We’re currently booked onto a cruise shorex to the distillery and beach (doesn’t say which but I’m assuming great anse) Tour is 3.45hours (9.45-1.30), we’re in port 9.30-4.30. We have 2 young children (2 and 5) hence shorex on a coach usually easier, but feels like we may be leaving a lot of port time with little else to do other than port shopping.   any ideas how much and easy with children it’s be to taxi to the distillery, do the tour, taxi to beach (anse or other ) and back to port ..read more

Anyone know of or has experienced the Celebrity excursion entitled “Ultimate Beach Experience: Kalinago Beach Resort”? They state “At Kalinago, guests are welcomed with a complimentary alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink and may spend up to an hour and a half at Morne Rouge Beach,” so my question is: are you really limited to an hour and a half or can you stay as long as you want? We would like to spend most of the day on the beach, hence the question ..read more

From our third day of cruising in our journey to the Amazon River, there is so, so much wonderful to share in Granada. And, the pictures? So many exciting visuals to share. If you are not liking these visuals from yesterday, we'll be happy to refund your money, double! What was not to like about Granada? Hopefully, my pictures will prove it!   Grenada was where we did a ship tour called "Around The Isle of Spice" (GND-A1) that was seven hours and departed a little early at 8:00 am. When we landed at their capital of St. Georges, there were 19 of us from the Silver Cloud doing a circling o ..read more
