Have SB divers lost interest in GC?

It seems to me that I don't see as many posts and trip reports for diving GC. I thought once it re-opened there would be more. Is it just me? What do others sense or think? I'm still interested in returning for a dive trip but Bonaire and Cur have edged out a GC trip this year and probably next ..read more

Has anyone done this lately? I sent the GTYC an email to see if they still offer this. We are scheduled to arrive GC 10:20 on Wed with a departing flight at 2:30 PM to LC. Seemed like a good option. I don't see anyplace in the airport that would be a good lunch option ..read more

Unhappy Earth Day

I just got back from LC and the reefs have really deteriorated from last year, presumably due to last summer's inordinately hot weather and consistent ocean temp of 90 degrees. The coral is almost all bleached or dead looking. It is hard to say how much recovery is going to take place, given that it is already six months since the stress event. I'm no expert on coral but to the uneducated eye, things look awful. Very depressing ..read more

Heading down to GC and LC next month. We will sorely miss Calico Jacks on 7MB. The last of the casual beach bars right on the 7mb. Is there anything comparable, either new or that we may have overlooked ..read more

Looking for a shore dive buddy 5/21/24 through 5/31/24

Hi , new here, and new-ish to diving. I'll be in Grand Cayman between 5/21/24 and 5/31/24 with my wife (who does not dive) - first half at rum point, last half in Georgetown. I've only got a handful (around 10) of dives under my belt, but I'd like to do some more challenging things, or just chill. Been diving twice in Cayman before. Favorite shore dive was off of Macabuca. Anyone planning on being there the same dates and want to buddy up ..read more

One Hour Layover Adequate to Connect GCM and LYB?
ScubaBoard » Cayman Islands

It looks like only a single flight to GCM from either Tampa or Miami is available on Saturday, leaving mid-afternoon. Both flights show a one hour layover before catching the Otter to LYB. With having to de-plane, clear customs and immigration, collect luggage, re-check luggage, and go through security, that seems like an impossible short layover. Others here must have done these flights - did you make the connection ..read more
