Hello fellow bushcrafters! My wife and I are going to be relocating in the next 2-3 years and we think we've narrowed down our choices to ME or NH. We began our research this past May by spending a week driving around the two states. Our next step is to spend a few weeks there to really get a feel for it. We want this to be our last move so we're being diligent so we can make the correct decision. I'm hoping to hear from people who live there or have lived there. What do you like or... Looks like my Dad is buying some property in Hampden and he said I can play Bushcrafter in his yard when we come to visit. But I'm also wondering about kayaking, fishing, and hunting in that area. Is anyone familiar with that area? Any places to check out or avoid ..read more

Interesting, even the newly expanded Schoodic division on the mainland had a road closure due to heavy traffic. It was hoped it would alleviate some of the crowding on Mt. Desert Island where the main part of the park is. Friends who have travelled in the west have told me they encountered the same thing at Bryce and Zion... Hello Mainers.. I am looking at a property for sale in Howland Maine. I currently live in Pennsylvania, but am looking to get to a bit more of a remote area to try my hand at small scale homesteading/ subsistence living. I have a pretty nice nest egg and would be starting debt free. I also have marketable skills as a mobile welder( I own my own rig). I just have some questions about the area. The property is in the penobscot area. Just wondering about the school system, the local economy... Howland Maine ..read more

Decided it was too nice a day to mow the lawn so I jumped on the bike and headed toward Rangley Lakes Region. I've never been there. Above is my first view of the lake from Rte 4 coming into town Lunch time here. Good food. Kinda pricey though. Another view. This from Rte 17. The water on the right is Rangley. The hump in the foreground is Bald Mountain and the water on the left is... Yesterday's Road Trip ..read more
