I’ve kind of been in a bubble lately I guess and haven’t been “shopping” so to speak in 6 months. I had to run to Portland to drop off my daughter for sports last night and had an hour to kill so decided on Cabelas. A couple of friends asked me to grab a few things, etc. Wow. The store was crazy busy. They have strategically taken a store with about half their regular inventory and spread it out so the store doesn’t look too bare. Snow is hurting but it’s been fun while it lasted. Deer and moose(only found one dead) seem to be doing well. Some bulls are still holding their antlers, some deer are far from the yards. Lakes are still sketchy, but the ice fishing I hear is pretty good. Couple of photos from the last few weeks ..read more

Just out of curiosity, is anyone familiar with hunting in Lincoln County? Particularly the Dresden, Alna, Whitefield area. Just bought a parcel down there with the intent to build a little cabin on it. Interested to hear any input on how the hunting is in that area? The property has a swampy bottom that looks great for bedding and tons of oaks. Not much ag around the immediate area, other than Whitefield up the road. The week before Thanksgiving, we made our annual trip to Maine this year. I wasn’t sure how I was going to make out with my arm injury, but that’s a long story. I began hunting in Maine with my grandfather in 1981. I don't remember where in those early years ('81-'83), but I made many trips, scattered around years where military deployments prevented me from going, through the 1980's into the early 1990's. We hunted some years around Patten, some years near Ellsworth, and the last few years going with him, on a coastal island at a friends camp.
