It has been two years since I last covered the case of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his megachurch, The Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name.
I cover a lot in this episode, so make sure you take breaks in between. In this episode, I make sure to highlight how Quiboloy went from confident preacher to a church leader in hiding. There are going to be details about the case in the US and the Philippines and how Quiboloy became the straw that broke the camel's back when it came to the Marcos-Duterte alliance.
Sources I used are listed here.

In this episode, I dive into one of the most chilling and brutal crimes in Manila's history. On August 26, 1963, a violent robbery at the RCA Building on Canonigo Street shocked the city, leaving five security guards dead and others narrowly escaping with their lives.
Armed with an axe found on the scene and a twisted plan, the gang of perpetrators pulled off a staggering heist, but the real twist lies in who was behind it all. Tune in and listen to the details of this gruesome crime, the investigation that followed, and how justice was ultimately served.

In September 1995, Felipe and Evelyn Pestaño were anticipating the return of their son Philip who was working on board the BRP Bacolod. Their son was a young cargo officer in the Philippine Navy. What was supposed to be a heartwarming welcome turned into a bitter and tragic realisation that Philip had apparently died on board the navy ship under very suspicious circumstances. What followed were years of agony, legal battles and disappointment after disappointment for the Pestaño family.

In July 2001, the quiet Sydney suburb of North Ryde was rattled awake by a triple murder that seemed to have been the result of a robbery gone wrong. Little did they know that these murders were in the making for so long and could be traced back to Baguio, Philippines.
For its first episode for Season 4, Lagim: A Filipino True Crime Story presents a story from the diaspora. It is a story of expectations, pressure, generational differences and existing as immigrant children in a culture that is very different to the one their parents grew up with in the Philippines.

For the past year, I have been following this case closely. Something about the circumstances surrounding this case deeply bothered me from the very beginning. I followed reports and articles written about Bree and her death for over a year now and have collated all these reports in blog posts in Lagim's blog. I have now used these reports to put together a sort of case review in this episode, in the hope that people will not forget about Bree and the fact that her death is still unsolved to this very day. It is a long episode, so make sure you have the time to really absorb the details. My blo ..read more

This week's case is a case from the diaspora. A listener suggested this case through the case suggestion list and I am glad I was able to cover it.The case is about a Filipino-American family in California who was considered unassuming and very much run of the mill. At least for those looking from the outside looking in. But all was not well, especially for mother Annamaria Gana who in 2010 received a devastating cancer diagnosis. Everyday was a fight for the mother of two. By May 2011, it all became too much and Annamaria decided to take matters into her own hands. Feeling like her family wou ..read more

In the telling of Filipino history, the stories and heritage of the Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines are often missed if not completely erased. This is very much our loss because the Indigenous Peoples of our country are a small looking glass into which we could see a future that we could have had, had colonialism not happened. They stand for protecting ancestral lands, nature and for continuing with practices that we have long forgotten. From the midst of the Indigenous Peoples in Ifugao/Cordilleras region came Macli-ing Dulag, an elder who became the face and voice of that region's indig ..read more
