Double-checking the 2023 results for the five-round TradeZone GTRNZ has confirmed the five title winners – filled by four drivers.   Heading into the final round at Hampton Downs 5-7 May nothing was decided and the GT4-GT2 groups had multiple drivers in reach of the lead. Even the lead by Waiuku’s Kerry Jones (Corvette TraNZam) in GT1 and overall was catchable.   It took the full three races and a lot of reconciling to confirm the eventual winners – one for each GT1-GT4 with the overall falling into the hands of Jones.   In GT4 it was 68 points that separated first from second ..read more

At the season finale at Hampton Downs, a new king was crowned as Brad Kroef won the RYCO 24•7 V8 Utes championship. His father Greg Kroef was a close second just 15 points behind. Third place however was a hard-fought battle, with Jake Stoneman  just edging Phill Ross – and Sunday’s races proved to be the decider. Yet for the champion Brad Kroef, the weekend’s racing didn’t all go according to the script; his crew having to eeplace a brake hose then an oil cooler to keep the car on the track. So Brad’s win was undeniably a team effort. It all began with Race Two on Sunday morning; a reve ..read more

Today’s first of three races for the 2023 Super Sprint MotorSport New Zealand Championship finale has seen Feilding’s Justin Allen take the win in the Toyota 86 category.   In a lights-to-flag result having set fastest time in this morning’s qualifying it was a bruising race – one of eight held today. The continuation of drizzly weather affected some classes more than others – the late afternoon Toyota race being one that enjoyed drier conditions.   Championship leader Brock Gilchrist, who started the day with a 76 point buffer for the title lead, lost some ground.
